Waterway traffic on the Kinh Thay River, through the Hai Phong area, will be restricted for over a year to facilitate construction of the Kinh Thay 1 overpass.

The Northern Maritime and Inland Waterways Administration has announced waterway traffic restrictions on the Kinh Thay River for over a year, from April 1, 2026, to September 12, 2027, at kilometer marker 30+400 on the national inland waterway route of the Kinh Thay River. This segment has its left bank in Le Dai Hanh Ward and right bank in Tran Phu Commune.
Vessels must follow directions from traffic control personnel, comply with the installed inland waterway signaling system, and ensure traffic safety.
The Hanoi - Quang Ninh High-Speed Railway project spans approximately 120.4 km, passing through Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh. The Hai Phong section is about 33 km long.
The design features a double-track railway with 1,435 mm gauge with a maximum speed of 350 km/h. The entire route will include nine river overpasses, including the Kinh Thay River overpasses. The Kinh Thay 1 overpass is a key component of the Hanoi - Quang Ninh High-Speed Railway project, invested by VinSpeed High-Speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company.
