The national carrier said it has notified the People’s Committees of Khanh Hoa province and Hai Phong city of the suspension starting April 1, 2026, citing sharp volatility in the aviation fuel market.

Since early March, tensions in the Middle East have driven up Jet A-1 fuel prices, averaging nearly $180 per barrel during the month and at times reaching $231 per barrel. Meanwhile, domestic aviation fuel supply, which relies heavily on imports accounting for around 70–80%, has declined significantly, increasing operating costs and raising the risk of shortages.

In this context, Vietnam Airlines said it will prioritise maintaining national air connectivity and key domestic routes. The suspension of the Hai Phong–Cam Ranh service is aimed at optimizing operational efficiency during this difficult period while ensuring resources for essential routes.
