Viet Hai community-based tourism destination in Cat Hai special zone has been recognized as the 13th tourism site of Hai Phong city.
The People’s Committee of Cat Hai special zone held a ceremony on the afternoon of August 14 to announce the decision of the Hai Phong city People’s Committee recognizing Viet Hai as a community-based tourism destination.
This is the 13th tourism site recognized by the city People’s Committee under the 2017 Law on Tourism.
Viet Hai community-based tourism destination comprises two hamlets, covering an area of 6,485 ha, with 87 households and a total population of 295.
An “island within an island,” Viet Hai is separated from Cat Ba island of Cat Hai special zone, lying within the core buffer zone of Cat Ba National Park. The area features majestic mountains and forests, charming landscapes of mountains and waters, fertile valleys, and streams that flow year-round.
Biodiversity is Viet Hai’s most prominent characteristic, serving as a valuable tourism resource and a competitive advantage for local development. The area also boasts unique beauty and preserves historical and cultural values, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers seeking pristine and rustic charm.
Visitors to Viet Hai can experience distinctive and unique cultural traits alongside the simple lifestyle of the local community. Viet Hai has been steadily becoming an attractive community-based tourism destination for both domestic and international visitors.
Cat Hai special zone has selected Viet Hai as a pilot area for green transition for the 2025 – 2030 period, with plans to replicate green transition models to other areas of Cat Ba island.
