Hai Phong proactively develops plans and stands ready to respond to natural disasters, ensuring the safety of people’s lives and property.
Weather conditions in 2026 are forecast to be unpredictable, particularly with heat waves, rain, storms and flooding; thus, Hai Phong regularly invests in building, repairing and reinforcing river dikes, under-dike culverts and auxiliary drainage facilities, helping ensure the safety of the entire irrigation dike system.The Nam Dinh Vu sea dike in Dang Hai Ward is nearly 12.8 km long, with a total investment of about VND 2.3 trillion. Put into use, the dike helps protect against waves and creates space for the development of industry and port services.The Hoang Chau sea dike in Cat Hai Special Zone has been reinforced with concrete, ensuring safety for Cat Hai Island, factories in the Dinh Vu – Cat Hai Economic Zone and island residents.To proactively respond to natural disasters, weather monitoring and forecasting are hourly updated at the Northeast Regional Hydro-Meteorological Station. Based on monitoring data, this year will see many unusual weather developments,” said Nguyen Ngoc Minh, Head of the Phu Lien Meteorological Station under the Northeast Regional Hydro-Meteorological Station.To ensure drainage safety for communes in Vinh Bao, the Thuong Dong Pumping Station proactively maintains its machinery to keep it in good working condition and regulates water sources for irrigation, ensuring agricultural production in the area.Workers of Vinh Bao Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd. collect waste and clear the flow on the Chanh Duong river.To ensure the safety of the dike system and be ready for adverse situations during the storm and rainy season, militia units regularly conduct inspections and drills for various scenarios.Workers of Green Parks JSC cut and trim trees and close tree canopies along roads to prevent branches and trees from breaking or falling, ensuring safety during the rainy and stormy season.Workers of the Drainage One Member Co., Ltd. clear and clean the sewer system to ensure drainage, minimizing waterlogging and flooding during the rainy and stormy season.The Hai Phong Center for Monitoring Information of Drainage System Operations is monitored and run through an automated surveillance system connected to cameras that provide images at all times.Hilly and mountainous areas at risk of landslides are closely monitored, with warnings issued when extreme and dangerous weather phenomena occur.Timely information, dissemination and mobilization of households to temporarily leave unsafe, deteriorating apartment and collective buildings whenever storms occur.Border Guard forces proactively guide and arrange boats and ships to safely anchor in shelters, minimizing damage caused by storms.
