Singapore has had 1,434 projects in Hai Phong with a total investment of nearly 11 billion USD, ranking second among countries and territories investing in the city.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Anh Quan hosted a delegation from the Singapore Embassy in Vietnam, joined by officials from the Singapore Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei, led by Donald Tsang, Deputy Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam, during their working visit to Hai Phong on September 16.
Quan briefed the delegation on Hai Phong’s socio-economic achievements, geographical advantages, transport system, and streamlined administrative procedures, which together contribute to creating the city’s attractive investment environment and driving its sustainable and rapid growth.
The city is home to over 1,700 foreign-invested projects from more than 40 countries and territories, with total registered capital exceeding 50 billion USD.
The Government has approved the establishment of an economic zone covering about 20,000 ha in southern Hai Phong. Designed as a comprehensive coastal economic zone under the green growth and circular economy model, it includes a free trade zone with breakthrough and preferential mechanisms and policies.
Expressing delight at the deepening Vietnam–Singapore comprehensive strategic partnership that has brought about practical benefits to both peoples and businesses, Quan emphasized that cooperation between Hai Phong and Singaporean partners has yielded significant results given their many similarities. As of September 2025, Singapore ranked second in terms of investment in Hai Phong, with 1,434 projects worth nearly 11 billion USD, contributing positively to the city’s overall development.
He expressed hope that the delegation’s visit would provide valuable insights and strengthen mutual understanding of Hai Phong’s development potential and cooperation opportunities, thereby deepening bilateral ties and fostering long-term friendship and growth.
Thanking the city’s leaders for their warm reception, Deputy Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam Donald Tsang affirmed that Hai Phong, with its advantages and potential, is an attractive and safe destination for foreign investors, including those from Singapore.
In the coming time, Singapore plans to further expand its investments in Vietnam, with Hai Phong continuing to play a central role in the VSIP industrial park network, Donald said.
The Deputy Ambassador highly appreciated the city’s efforts in inviting, attracting, and supporting FDI investors, and expressed confidence that more Singaporean businesses and partners would come to Hai Phong to seek opportunities and expand investments, thereby strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors.
