Hai Phong warned of heavy rain and landslides

The Hai Phong Hydrometeorological Station warns that heavy rain could trigger rock and soil landslides in some areas of the city over the next six hours.

Hai Phong has experienced moderate to heavy rain, with some areas receiving very heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, including Tu Ky (188.8 mm), Thanh Tung (166.1 mm), Ninh Giang (161.4 mm) and Vinh Bao (161.6 mm), according to the City Hydrometeorological Station.

Under the influence of a weakening disturbance from a tropical depression, combined with an upper-level wind convergence, Hai Phong is forecast to experience moderate to heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms from early September 15 through the morning of September 16, with rainfall generally ranging from 60 to 120 mm.

Heavy rain is expected to ease from the afternoon of September 16.

The City Hydrometeorological Station warns of a risk of rock and soil landslides on mountain slopes in Cat Hai Special Zone and the communes and wards of Phu Lien, Kien An, Do Son, Nam Do Son, Nhi Chieu, and Nam An Phu. The natural disaster risk level for flash floods, landslides and land subsidence caused by rain, floods or water flow is Level 1.

The City Hydrometeorological Station also advises residents to be alert for whirlwinds, lightning and strong gusts during thunderstorms.
