Hai Phong ready to fully switch to E10 biofuel

Proactive transition

Starting June 1, businesses in Hai Phong, along with those nationwide, will officially shift to trading E10 biofuel under the government’s roadmap aimed at promoting environmentally friendly fuels.

Ahead of the citywide rollout, petrol stations across Hai Phong have largely completed preparations for the shift.

At Hai An petrol station on Le Hong Phong Street, all fuel pumps have switched to selling E10 gasoline. Pham Quoc Huy, manager of the petrol station, said the station had started selling E10 biofuel from May 15, half a month earlier than scheduled. Since the transition, E10 consumption has remained comparable to previous RON95 gasoline sales.

From May 26, both petrol stations operated by Ngan Ha Oil Trading Transport JSC in Gia Vien Ward and An Lao Commune completed the transition to E10 sales.

Dang Thi Mai Theu, Director of Ngan Ha Oil Trading Transport JSC, said the company had proactively upgraded technical infrastructure, storage tanks and specialized fuel pumps before switching to E10 trading.

Fuel sales at the company’s stations have remained stable, while customers have not reported concerns about E10 quality.

According to the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade, as of May 27, all fuel wholesalers, authorized distributors and fuel distribution businesses in the city had begun trading E10 gasoline. Nearly 90% of the city’s 498 retail fuel stations had completed the shift to E10 sales.

By June 1, 2026, all petrol stations in Hai Phong are expected to sell E10 gasoline.

Hai Phong set for full switch to E10 biofuel

Tran Quoc Tuan, Deputy Director of Dinh Vu Petroleum Depot under PVOIL Dinh Vu, said that since the company began blending and supplying E10 gasoline to retail stations in August 2025, there had been no consumer complaints or feedback related to the use of E10 fuel in vehicles currently in circulation.

Addressing concerns over the use of E10 for older vehicles, Tuan stressed that the fuel is compatible with most vehicles currently in operation.

To ensure the transition is implemented smoothly, the Department of Industry and Trade has requested departments, agencies, local authorities, relevant organizations and fuel traders to strictly follow the conversion roadmap under directives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the city People’s Committee.

The industry sector also called on local authorities to step up communication efforts to help consumers better understand the benefits of E10 biofuel.
