Hai Phong city will allocate 675 billion VND to construct an interchange of Bui Vien and Vo Nguyen Giap streets to address traffic congestion and conflicts in the area.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Anh Quan has signed a decision approving a project to build an interchange of Bui Vien and Vo Nguyen Giap streets.
The project will be implemented during 2025 – 2027 on 5 ha of land in An Bien and Le Chan wards with a total investment of 675 billion VND from the city’s budget.
The construction scale includes a level-1 intersection in the form of a roundabout with a 30-m radius. Along Bui Vien street, an underpass will be built with a permanent reinforced concrete structure, totaling 485 m in length. Of this, the closed tunnel section will be 125 m long and 27 m wide, with six lanes and a design speed of 70 km/h.
Vo Nguyen Giap street will remain unchanged, with smooth connections designed to link it with the roundabout intersection. Supporting infrastructure along the route will be built, including a drainage system, a tunnel pumping station, lighting, greenery, and traffic safety facilities.
The project will contribute to completing the transport system in An Bien and Le Chan wards according to the approved master plan; alleviating traffic congestion and ensuring safety at the Bui Vien – Vo Nguyen Giap intersection. At the same time, it will help ease vehicle flow on National Highway 5 through the inner city and on other roads.
