Exciting and dramatic 2025 Do Son - VTV Buffalo Fighting Festival

The People’s Committees of Do Son and Nam Do Son wards, in coordination with Vietnam Television and Hai Phong Newspaper, Radio and Television, organized the 2025 Do Son - VTV Buffalo Fighting Festival at the stadium of Do Son ward on the morning of September 30.

Attending the festival were members of the city Party Committee’s Standing Board: Nguyen Quang Phuc, Head of the Commission for Propaganda and Mass Mobilization, and Bui Xuan Thang, Commander of the city Military Command.

Also present were Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyen Minh Hung, representatives of the city departments and agencies, along with more than 20,000 locals and visitors.

From early morning, a large crowd of people and tourists flocked to the central stadium of Do Son ward, where the final round of the festival took place. Many vibrant processions in festive attire escorted 16 buffaloes from communal houses to the fighting ground.

At exactly 7:30 am, the opening ceremony officially began. After the opening speech and the drumbeat to inaugurate the festival by Nguyen Quang Dien, Chairman of the Do Son Ward People’s Committee, the festival flag was raised at the stadium.

This was followed by a performance of drums and gongs. The resounding beats blended into the sacred cultural space, solemn yet jubilant, reflecting the spirit, soul, and character of the people of Do Son coastal land.

The matches at the 2025 Do Son - VTV Buffalo Fighting Festival were highly appreciated by both experts and spectators, as thrilling and engaging as in previous years. The festival was safely and successfully organized, with professional and thoughtful preparations by the organizers. The fighting ground was reinforced, and the ceremonies and matches were conducted in a well-ordered manner, leaving a strong impression on audiences and visitors.

The organizers awarded the first prize, the championship trophy, and a cash prize of 100 million VND to the owner of buffalo No. 06, folk artisan Dinh Dinh Phu from Ngoc Xuyen communal house, Do Son ward

The second prize, worth 70 million VND, went to the owner of buffalo No. 07, Phi Van Hien from Thuong Duc temple, Nam Do Son ward

Two third prizes, worth 30 million VND each, went to the owner of buffalo No. 04, Nguyen Ngoc Hung from Ngoc Xuyen communal house, Do Son ward, and the owner of buffalo No. 14, Nguyen Van Nam from Nghe temple, Do Son ward

The match between buffalo No. 07 of Phi Van Hien and buffalo No. 01 of Hoang Gia Thom won the award for the best fighting pair.

Buffalo No. 14 of Nguyen Van Nam won the award for the best striking technique.
