Entering the second quarter of 2026, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) assesses that electricity demand will surge due to the dry season peak, prolonged hot weather, alongside rising industrial production and electricity consumption in industrial zones.

To ensure electricity supply, EVN requires its units to carry out tasks as directed by the Government, Prime Minister, and Ministry of Industry and Trade; enhance electricity savings; and promote rooftop solar power development in line with Directive No. 10/CT-TTg dated March 30, 2026.

Power generation units must secure sufficient fuel, operate generating units ready per the system's dispatch method, and improve the availability and reliability of power sources. Hydropower plants proactively update hydrological conditions, flexibly manage reservoirs, and balance water needs for daily life, agriculture, and power generation.

The National Power Transmission Corporation strengthens equipment inspections, ensures safe grid operation, while accelerating the installation of capacitors and battery energy storage systems (BESS), particularly in the North.

Power corporations develop electricity supply plans for various scenarios, coordinate with large electricity users to adjust loads under extreme conditions, collaborate with the national power system and market operator Limited company limited (NSMO) to forecast demand, assess impacts from rooftop solar and electric vehicles, and invest in distribution grid storage systems.

Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) advised residents to adjust electricity use, particularly by limiting high-capacity appliances during peak hours, especially in the afternoons and evenings to reduce outage risks and ensure stable supply.
