Flexible support and practical protection for workers
Organizing grassroots-oriented activities and putting workers at the center has become a consistent priority in efforts to renew trade union activities in Hai Phong.

Diverse activities
The Trade Union of Fujikura Composites Hai Phong Co., Ltd. in Japan - Hai Phong Industrial Park has recently organized the 2026 Fujikura Trade Union Sports Festival, attracting 28 teams and more than 200 workers. The participants competed in four events: men's football, men's and women's sack races, men's and women's relay races, and men's and women's tug-of-war.
According to Do An Ninh, Chairman of the company's Trade Union, the festival provided a healthy recreational environment, encouraged union members and workers to exercise and improve their health, and strengthened interaction and solidarity within the company, helping build a united working environment and improve workers' spiritual well-being.
Also in October, the Trade Union of Tongwei Vietnam Electronics Co., Ltd. organized the “Miss Tongwei 2026” beauty pageant. This was not only an opportunity for female employees to showcase their beauty and talents, but also a way for the Trade Union to demonstrate its care and encouragement for workers.

Many grassroots trade unions in Hai Phong regularly organize practical activities for union members and workers. Nguyen Viet Tri, Chairman of the Trade Union of Hyundai Kefico Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Dai An Industrial Park, said that, alongside sports activities, the company's Trade Union would organize the “Sowing Seeds of Happiness” program in early November as part of a nutrition and health consultation program for female workers. Activities will include experience booths, product stalls, a market fair, relay games, tug-of-war and photo corners.
Going beyond worker support
The Hai Phong Confederation of Labor is currently managing 3,218 grassroots trade unions with approximately 652,000 members. Grassroots-oriented activities involve not only organizing more events at businesses but also strengthening the capacity, resources and operating conditions of grassroots trade unions. More practical support helps strengthen bonds and encourages employers to participate in and work alongside trade unions.
In the first nine months of 2026, grassroots trade unions mobilized approximately VND 423 billion to support union members and workers. These funds were used for gift presentation, organization of “Trade Union Year-End Meals”, “Tet Reunion” programs and other welfare initiatives.

By the end of the third quarter of this year, 72% of enterprises and units had held workers' conferences. Dialogue sessions focused on practical issues of concern to workers and delivered tangible results. For example, EST Vina Hai Phong Co., Ltd. increased its shift meal allowance from VND 25,000 to VND 30,000 per meal, while Feedtech Vietnam Co., Ltd. raised its fuel allowance from VND 500,000 to VND 650,000 and its shift meal allowance from VND 15,000 to VND 25,000.
According to Nguyen Van Quyet, Head of the Hai Phong Industrial Parks Trade Union Board, in the third quarter, 95 grassroots trade unions in the city's industrial parks and economic zones organized 130 dialogue sessions, helping resolve at least 263 worker recommendations.
Building strong grassroots trade unions not only provides better protection for workers' rights and interests but also helps foster stable labor relations, improve workforce quality and lay the foundation for the city's sustainable development.
