New life for Hai Phong’s heritage land
In 2026, the first year of implementing Politburo Resolution No. 80 and organizing Vietnam Culture Day, Hai Phong will host a series of distinctive cultural and artistic events.

Creating spaces for heritage experiences
In celebration of Vietnam Culture Day, Hai Phong Museum plans to organize a thematic exhibition entitled ‘Journey through Vietnamese heritage’. The exhibition is scheduled to open on November 18 and run for one month at the museum’s exhibition hall.
Featuring approximately 300 artifacts, the exhibition is divided into two sections, tracing the development of Vietnamese culture from the Phung Nguyen and Dong Son cultures through the Later Le Restoration period, the Tay Son era and the Nguyen Dynasty. The exhibits include a diverse range of objects, such as stone tools, bronze artifacts and ceramics from different dynasties, as well as seals, swords, embroidered items, Vietnamese enamelware, carved and inlaid wooden objects, and lacquerware decorated with gold leaf.
The museum is also strengthening its connections with the Hai Phong Cultural Antiquities Association and private collectors, encouraging them to share valuable collections for public display. This will give residents, particularly school and university students, opportunities to explore their heritage, deepen their love for their homeland and strengthen their awareness of the need to preserve traditional cultural values.

Spreading the beauty of Hai Phong’s heritage
Following the administrative merger, Hai Phong has become home to a rich and diverse cultural heritage system, comprising 3,981 historical and cultural sites. These include two World Heritage sites, nine special national relic sites, 257 national-level relic sites and 722 city-level relic sites.
The city also has 1,289 festivals, two intangible cultural heritage elements recognized by UNESCO, 24 items of national intangible cultural heritage, 33 national treasures, and a distinguished community of People's Artisans and Meritorious Artisans. Together, these represent a diverse cultural resource spanning maritime culture, historical sites, religious beliefs, festivals, traditional craft villages and folk arts.
Building on these heritage values, the Hai Phong People’s Committee has developed a plan for a series of events marking Vietnam Culture Day 2026, scheduled for November 18–24. The activities will be held in conjunction with the National Great Unity Day on November 18 and Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day on November 23.
A highlight of the program will be the event “One space – multiple experiences”, scheduled for November 21 and 22 at the courtyard of the city’s Fine Arts Exhibition House. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore photographs, documents and artifacts showcasing Hai Phong’s history and culture, along with its tangible and intangible cultural heritage, festivals, customs and traditional handicrafts.

In the film industry, the ‘Hai Phong – Gateway to Cinema’ Forum is scheduled to take place from November 21 to 23. Activities will include forums, a gala, the ‘Vietnam on Screen’ exhibition, business networking, film location surveys and screenings.
On November 24, the artistic program ‘Colors of Vietnamese Culture’ will be held at the Xu Dong Cultural Center Square. In addition, a range of activities at libraries, film screenings, community arts performances and heritage education programs will be organized, creating more opportunities for different audiences to access, experience and learn about Vietnamese culture.
