Hai Phong University, in coordination with Hai Duong University, the Hai Phong Union of Science and Technology Associations, and business associations, organized a scientific conference titled “Improving Productivity and Quality among Hai Phong Businesses – A Driving Force for Development in the Northern Coastal Region” on October 23.
The conference served as a networking forum, bringing together scientists, experts, and management officials from more than 20 universities, research institutes, organizations, and the business community. Participants analyzed barriers and proposed solutions to improve business productivity, quality, and competitiveness amid the transition to new growth models.
In 2026, the business community continues to face mounting pressure as the artificial intelligence revolution and digital transformation accelerate. Meanwhile, green transition and sustainable development trends, along with technical barriers and carbon standards, have become mandatory requirements for accessing international markets.

The Politburo’s Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation, and national digital transformation and Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW on private sector development as well as the National Program to Support Businesses in Improving Productivity and Quality for the 2021-2030 period provide timely and important policy support.
Alongside the plenary session, discussion sessions focused on three main areas. The first, covering institutions, policies, and the business environment, examined labor productivity, the competitiveness of small- and medium-sized enterprises, the impact of foreign direct investment, and innovation ecosystems.
The second, focusing on resource development and value chain optimization, addressed links among seaports, logistics, and industrial parks, the development of digital talent, and stronger cooperation between educational institutions and businesses.

The third area, covering digital transformation, green transition, and smart management, focused on tools and approaches such as ISO standards, Lean, Kaizen–5S, Quality 4.0, artificial intelligence, automation, and energy management. Discussions clarified appropriate roadmaps for technology adoption to ensure investment effectiveness, particularly for small- and medium-sized enterprises.
The conference aimed to provide additional scientific evidence for policymaking, promote the transfer of appropriate management models, and establish a practical cooperation network among government agencies, research institutes, universities, and businesses.
These efforts are expected to help Hai Phong businesses improve their competitiveness, generate wider spillover effects, strengthen value chain linkages, and advance economic development across the Northern Coastal Region.
