Making tourism a sector contributing 5.5% of Hai Phong’s GRDP
Hai Phong is capitalizing on its expanded tourism space, aiming to generate approximately VND 55 trillion in tourism revenue and contribute around 5.5% of the city's GRDP by 2030.

Enhancing experiences and boosting destination appeal
“I feel very honored and proud to be part of the national final round of Miss Vietnam 2026. The organizers have prepared everything very carefully, and I think the event is wonderful,” said Chung Hai Bang, a member of the delegation from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, who came to Do Son to cheer on the contestants.
The event at Dragon Ocean International Tourism Area not only attracted large crowds but also enhanced the appeal of Hai Phong as a seaside destination. Journalist Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper and Head of the Pageant Organizing Committee, praised the support provided by the city's authorities and residents.
The port city offers a wide range of nighttime entertainment options in addition to its daytime attractions. After taking part in activities along the pedestrian street, sampling local cuisine and experiencing the Games ON Hai Phong 2026 esports event, Mike, a visitor from the United Kingdom, said the evening activities had made his exploration of the city more varied and enjoyable.

From cultural and sporting events to food, leisure and entertainment spaces, Hai Phong is expanding its tourism experiences by connecting sightseeing with shopping, relaxation and exploration of urban life. This approach not only makes destinations more attractive but also creates more business opportunities for accommodation, dining, transportation and related services, helping extend visitors' stays and increase their spending.
According to cumulative figures for the first nine months of 2026 released by the Hai Phong Smart City Operations Center, the city welcomed 13,951,196 visitors, including 1,057,074 international arrivals and 12,914,122 domestic tourists. Tourism revenue reached VND 16.724 trillion, up 37.19% from the same period in 2025.
Turning advantages into a growth driver
Following the merger with Hai Duong Province, Hai Phong has gained a broader tourism area connecting its islands and beaches, port city and urban centers with a rich system of cultural, historical, spiritual and ecological heritage sites, as well as traditional craft villages.
The Master Plan for Hai Phong Tourism Development to 2030, with a vision to 2045, aims to make tourism a key economic sector, developed in a professional and modern manner with an emphasis on quality and efficiency.

Tran Van Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said tourism resources in both the eastern and western parts of the city were abundant. This presents a major opportunity for Hai Phong to develop new tourism products, with a target of welcoming approximately 25 million visitors by 2030.
Under the targets, tourism revenue is expected to reach approximately VND 55 trillion by 2030, contributing around 5.5% of the city's GRDP. Achieving this goal will require stronger links between destinations, the development of distinctive products and improvements in service quality.
Under the adjusted economic growth scenario for the fourth quarter of 2026, Hai Phong is expected to welcome approximately 3.35 million visitors and generate around VND 4 trillion in tourism revenue. To meet this target, the city needs to continue improving infrastructure, enhancing workforce quality, and expanding the use of digital technology in promotion and service delivery. Tourism development must also be linked to environmental protection, heritage preservation and assurance of benefits for local communities.
By turning its potential and resources into distinctive tourism products and strengthening connections among destinations, businesses and communities, Hai Phong can enhance its competitiveness and gradually establish tourism as a key economic sector in the new era.
