Experiences beyond the stage

These days, the 25 contestants selected for the final round are continuing to rehearse, hone their skills and prepare for the crucial stage of the competition on November 7.

For the contestants, the Miss Vietnam 2026 journey is measured not only by their performances on stage, but also by the time they spend learning, living and experiencing the destinations along the way.

In Hai Phong, alongside activities at Doi Rong Tourist Area, the contestants have paid tribute at the temple dedicated to renowned scholar Nguyen Binh Khiem, learning about his life and legacy. They have also explored the scenic beauty of Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba Island in Cat Hai Special Zone. These destinations offer different perspectives on the city, from its rich historical heritage to its stunning seascapes and local way of life.

As part of the first activity of the final round, a group of contestants experienced wearing traditional Vietnamese costumes at Chu Dau pottery village. The outfits, reflecting the nation’s cultural and historical heritage, provided the young women with an opportunity to learn more about Vietnamese traditions at one of Hai Phong’s traditional craft villages. In the coming days, their journey will continue to other tourist attractions and craft villages across the city.

Bui Minh Phuong, a contestant from Hanoi, shared her positive impressions of the warm hospitality and thoughtful arrangements, as well as the living conditions in Hai Phong. These impressions were shaped during her stay, alongside her appreciation of the city’s landscapes and tourist attractions.

During the semi-final night, the contestants showcased the “Along the Heritage Trail” ao dai collection by beauty queen and designer Dang Thi Ngoc Han. The designs featured red flamboyant flowers, evoking one of Hai Phong’s most distinctive symbols as the host city of the competition.

Pham Van Ha, a contestant from Hai Phong, said: “I am very happy and proud to take part in the competition in my hometown. In particular, I feel fortunate to wear an ao dai featuring flamboyant flowers, which are closely associated with Hai Phong. This year, Hai Phong has six contestants participating in Miss Vietnam 2026, four of whom have made it into the Top 25. The presence of local contestants has also drawn greater public interest in the competition among residents.

With Tien Phong Newspaper as the organizer, Miss Vietnam 2026 benefits from extensive media coverage, ranging from the organizer’s own press network to media platforms operated by Hai Phong Newspaper and Radio and Television, as well as numerous news agencies nationwide. Beyond providing updates on the competition and the contestants’ activities, the event offers opportunities to showcase Hai Phong through the destinations, events and experiences featured along the contestants’ journey. This gives the city an additional channel to reach a wider audience, particularly young people.

Journalist Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper and Head of the Competition Organizing Committee, highlighted Hai Phong’s youthful energy, dynamism and ambition to reach out to the wider world. He also emphasized the city’s rich history and culture, its tradition of national defense, its industrious spirit, and the elegant, open-hearted and loyal character of its people. These distinctive qualities define the city’s identity and provide a rich source of inspiration for showcasing Hai Phong at a competition celebrating the beauty of Vietnamese women.

Extending the appeal of Hai Phong as a destination

Over the course of approximately two months participating in Miss Vietnam 2026, including the period leading up to the national semi-final night on October 10, the contestants stayed, rehearsed and took part in various activities at Doi Rong International Tourist Area. The semi-final night was held at Dragon Beach, attracting around 3,000 spectators.

Doi Rong is not merely a venue for one night of competition; it has also served as the base for much of the contestants’ preparation. Their extended stay has given them an opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation of Hai Phong’s landscapes, tourism services and overall visitor experience.

In 2026, Hai Phong was selected to host several major events, including beauty pageants such as Miss World, Miss Universe Vietnam and Miss Vietnam 2026. These events provide opportunities for the city to showcase its image to a broad audience while demonstrating its growing capacity to organize large-scale events and deliver quality services.

Contestants, organizers and visitors attending these competitions have shared positive feedback about their experiences in Hai Phong. Julia Morley, Chairwoman and CEO of Miss World, expressed her admiration for the destination and the hospitality extended by the local community.

The promotional opportunities offered by these events also place greater demands on the city’s capacity to welcome and serve visitors. Representatives of the Cat Hai Special Zone People’s Committee said that visitor numbers to Cat Ba, particularly international arrivals, had increased since the archipelago was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The city has invested in upgrading ferry terminals and access roads to the island to meet growing travel demand. Local authorities have also implemented environmental protection initiatives and measures to preserve the natural landscape. These efforts are essential to maintaining Cat Ba’s appeal and improving its capacity to accommodate visitors.

To better serve domestic and international tour groups, the company focuses on staff training and improving service quality. It also works with relevant authorities and the local community to maintain the cleanliness of the marine environment.

The Miss Vietnam 2026 contestants’ journey is still underway, bringing further opportunities for Hai Phong to showcase its image through each activity of the competition. From landscapes and heritage to hospitality and service quality, these firsthand experiences help shape visitors’ impressions of the destination. They also pave the way for further connections between Hai Phong and tourists, as well as domestic and international cultural and tourism events.
