Japanese experts exchange experience in Hai Phong
Experts from the National College of Nursing, Japan, have exchanged experience and supported palliative care training at two hospitals in Hai Phong.
This September, Viet Tiep Hospital, Hai Duong General Hospital, and Hai Duong University of Medical Technology, have co-organized professional exchange activities with a delegation of experts from Japan’s National College of Nursing on palliative care.
The delegation was led by Professor Kyoko Sudo, a specialist in palliative care nursing, and included experts in psychiatric nursing, oncology nursing and nursing management.
At Viet Tiep Hospital, the experts discussed with medical staff the competency requirements, content and methods for palliative care training for nurses. They also directly attended a training session at the Department of Surgical Oncology and Palliative Care, where they discussed practical requirements in patient care.
At Hai Duong General Hospital, the discussions focused on clinical instruction in palliative care at the Oncology Center, the current state of continuing education for nurses, and the development of an online palliative care training course within the bachelor of nursing program.
The parties agreed to exchange views and develop training content suited to practical needs, including plans to conduct a training course for nurses from October to December 2026 and develop an online training course within the bachelor of nursing program.
The Japanese experts’ work at the two hospitals provided an opportunity to connect international experience with the practical realities of patient care at medical examination and treatment facilities in Hai Phong.
