As the weather turns cooler, Hai Phong City is offering more destinations and experiences associated with autumn, from Tam Bac Lake and the city center to tea houses, a re field in Con Son and more.
Autumn arrives on every street corner
This September, Hai Phong’s weather is becoming milder after the summer heat, trees are beginning to change color, and the breeze is getting cooler. This is also a time when many people enjoy going out, meeting friends, and finding suitable spaces to relax.
Tam Bac Lake is one of the places where the change in weather is easy to feel. After rain, the lake surface is calmer and the trees along the shore have a softer green hue. In the morning, people walking around the lake can catch the faint fragrance of sua (Alstonia scholaris) flowers drifting through the streets. These small changes are giving a familiar part of the city a different appearance.
Many service businesses are also proactively creating seasonal highlights to attract customers. At a cafe in Hai An Ward, a bicycle decorated with various flowers has become a check-in spot. Sunflowers, lilies, roses, hydrangeas and baby chrysanthemums are arranged on the bicycle basket and handlebars, creating an autumn-themed decorative corner.
Bui Thu Trang, a representative of the cafe, said the idea was inspired by flower-decorated bicycles on the streets of Ha Noi in autumn. The cafe has brought the concept to Hai Phong and adjusted the decorations to suit its space. According to Trang, creating seasonal decorative corners both refreshes the space and provides residents and visitors with another place to relax and take photos.
Autumn experiences
These days, tea houses and cafes around Hai Phong Opera House are attracting more groups of young people. Under the canopies of trees that are beginning to turn yellow, groups of friends are enjoying chrysanthemum tea, crispy persimmons, chestnuts and young green-rice flakes. The outdoor setting, cool weather and seasonal food presentation are creating a different experience from summer days.
Chrysanthemum tea is one of the drinks many people are choosing as the weather turns to autumn. Tea houses along the streets not only serve drinks but are also becoming places for residents and visitors to meet and chat.
Many businesses are creating autumn combos that combine tea, cakes and fruit. Familiar foods such as young green-rice flakes, persimmons, chestnuts and ripe dracontomelon are presented in seasonal sets, giving customers more choices.
At a tea house on Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Nguyen Thuy Ngoc, a visitor from Ha Noi, is trying a Hai Phong autumn combo for the first time after seeing information about it on TikTok. The slightly sour tea with a sweet aftertaste, combined with the items in the set, is giving her a new experience.
While the city center offers autumn experiences through food and urban spaces, Con Son has an advantage in its natural scenery.
In Tran Hung Dao Ward, the Con Son pine forest and re (artemisia annua) field are attracting many visitors this autumn. The forest, the re field and surrounding mountain ranges are convenient for sightseeing and photography.
The cool autumn weather is also helping attract visitors to the re field. Nguyen Thi Huong, a resident of Tan Hung Ward, said this is her second visit to the field. She said the area has fresh air and beautiful scenery, making it suitable for photography, especially on days with light sunshine and cool breezes.
Autumn is also giving residents and visitors an opportunity to explore Hai Phong in a different way. From street corners and tea houses to the green spaces of Con Son, each place is offering its own experience. These familiar elements are helping create the port city's gentle, approachable autumn.
