Creating room for Hai Phong’s industrial sector to boost growth
Hai Phong’s industrial production has maintained its growth momentum but remains below the projected scenario, requiring the city to make more effective use from key industrial enterprises.
Supporting businesses to sustain growth momentum
Hai Phong’s industrial production is entering a decisive period that will determine the city’s ability to achieve its 2026 targets. In the first eight months of the year, the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased by 15.22%, with the processing and manufacturing sector rising 15.66% and continuing to serve as the main growth driver.
To create a stronger momentum in the fourth quarter, the city has been closely monitoring key industrial enterprises with annual revenues of VND 1 trillion or more, reviewing their capacity to increase output, maintain orders and address difficulties affecting production plans. These enterprises account for a significant share of industrial output, meaning their production performance in the final months of the year will have a direct impact on the city’s overall IIP growth.
In the electronics sector, the production of new products not only generates immediate revenue but also determines whether factories can participate in subsequent generations of products. Therefore, alongside supporting businesses in increasing output, the city needs to focus on retaining high-value orders and minimizing the risk of production being relocated elsewhere.
Accelerating expansion projects
In addition to making full use of existing production capacity, the city needs to prepare the necessary conditions early so that projects under investment and production expansion can be implemented on schedule.
Developments in production and project implementation show that there is still considerable room for industrial growth, but making full use of this potential depends largely on the pace at which bottlenecks are addressed. In recent months, city leaders have conducted field inspections and held direct meetings with businesses and investors to identify difficulties and direct the resolution of issues related to administrative procedures, electricity supply, land and infrastructure. These efforts also concretize the Hai Phong Party Committee’s requirement to closely monitor the progress of each project and promptly address obstacles that could affect the city’s growth targets.
In his concluding remarks at the August-meeting of the Hai Phong Party Committee’s Standing Committee to set out tasks for September and assess the implementation of Resolution No. 11-NQ/TU, Hai Phong Party Committee Secretary Le Ngoc Chau called for regular management and supervision of key projects with a major impact on economic growth.
The performance of industrial production in the final months of the year will depend on the results of addressing each specific task. When businesses’ difficulties are resolved promptly, new factories are brought into operation sooner and expansion projects are provided with the necessary conditions to proceed, Hai Phong will have a stronger basis for narrowing the gap with its growth scenario while also preparing production capacity for 2027.
