Indonesian doctors undertake advanced study in maritime medicine in Hai Phong

The study and professional exchange program at the Vietnam National Institute of Maritime Medicine gives resident doctors from Indonesia access to knowledge, techniques and healthcare models in maritime medicine.

The study program for residents from Mataram University focuses on underwater medicine and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

On September 14, the Vietnam National Institute of Maritime Medicine (Vinimam) in Hai Phong received a delegation of maritime medicine residents from Mataram University in Indonesia for study, professional exchange and experience sharing.

The program, held under the “International Student Mobility in Maritime Medicine” initiative from September 14 to 18, combines theoretical instruction, academic exchange, and visits to and observation of practical work at specialized units of Vinimam.

During the program, the Mataram University doctors will learn about the formation and development of Vinimam, as well as training programs in maritime medicine, marine environmental medicine and the Telemedicine system.

The program focuses on underwater medicine and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The trainees will learn about the development of hyperbaric medicine in Vietnam and the clinical applications of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, visit and observe treatment procedures at the Center for Underwater and Hyperbaric Oxygen Medicine under Vinimam.

Through the program, the Mataram University residents have additional opportunities to access specialized knowledge and techniques and healthcare models for seafarers and offshore workers in Vietnam, while engaging directly with experts and lecturers from Vinimam.
