Hai Phong Trade Union cares for workers and promotes creativity
Studying and following the ideology, morality, and lifestyle of President Ho Chi Minh has provided fresh impetus for the city’s worker, civil servant, and employee movements, while helping Hai Phong’s trade union activities become increasingly substantive and in-depth.
Voluntary and consistent efforts
The Trade Union of Fujikura Composites Hai Phong Co., Ltd. (Japan–Hai Phong Industrial Park) has consistently emphasized that studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s example should begin with concrete actions in employees’ daily work, becoming a voluntary practice closely associated with the company’s corporate culture.
According to Mr. Do An Ninh, Chairman of the company’s Trade Union, from 2023 to 2025, the company’s employees contributed 183 initiatives and technical improvements, generating an estimated economic benefit of VND 36 billion. Programs such as “Saving by Following Uncle Ho’s Example” and the “Green, Clean and Beautiful Workplace, Ensuring Occupational Safety and Hygiene” campaign have been maintained regularly, helping reduce production costs and create a safer working environment.
The Trade Union has also placed a strong emphasis on dialogue and understanding employees’ concerns and aspirations, while organizing numerous activities to support union members and workers’ children. These efforts have helped strengthen employees’ ties with the company. For three consecutive years, the company’s Trade Union has received Certificates of Merit from the Hai Phong Federation of Labor.
The spirit of learning from President Ho Chi Minh through innovation and creativity has also spread strongly at Oki Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Trang Due Industrial Park), where 340 of its 379 employees are union members. Over the past three years, the company’s Trade Union has worked with specialized departments to encourage employees to develop initiatives and apply technology to production.
The total economic benefit generated by improvement activities has reached approximately VND 50 billion. The company has successfully implemented numerous automation projects using robots, smart equipment, and software researched, designed, and developed by Vietnamese engineers. Production management software, digital data solutions, and autonomous mobile robots for internal transportation have helped reduce manual labor while improving accuracy and operational efficiency at the factory.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Chairwoman of the company’s Trade Union, said that alongside promoting innovation, the Trade Union has coordinated the organization of five employee conferences and five regular dialogue sessions. It has received and resolved 90% of employee petitions, mainly concerning wages, allowances, working conditions, and shift meals.
Average monthly income has reached VND 10 million per employee, up 15% compared with 2020. Through five rounds of emulation campaigns focusing on production improvement and streamlining, average productivity has increased by 7% annually, while output has exceeded targets by 10%.
At Ducar Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd. (Phu Thai Industrial Park), studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s example is reflected clearly in the sense of responsibility and willingness to think boldly and act decisively demonstrated by trade union officials.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Thuan, Chairman of the company’s Trade Union and Head of the Engineering Department, not only regularly listens to employees’ concerns and proposes solutions to the company on issues related to their rights and benefits, but also personally conducts research into various technical solutions. Among them is an initiative that won second prize at the 2024–2025 Hai Duong Provincial Technical Innovation Contest.
Putting workers at the center
Building on outstanding examples of groups and individuals at the grassroots level, the implementation of Politburo Directive No. 05 across Hai Phong’s trade union system has shifted strongly from “learning” to “following,” closely linked to the trade unions’ responsibilities of representing, protecting and caring for workers, as well as building strong trade union organizations. Following President Ho Chi Minh’s people-centered spirit, the city’s trade unions have remained committed to the principle of ensuring that no union member facing hardship is left behind.
Since the beginning of 2026, Hai Phong’s union members and workers have received support, care and access to welfare programs worth a total of VND 82.9 billion. All union members facing hardship have received timely assistance; more than 40% of workers have benefited from welfare programs, while 72% have participated in activities aimed at improving their cultural and spiritual well-being. Programs such as “Tet Reunion,” “Thank You, Workers,” and “Trade Union Meal” have become increasingly substantive. The “Huong Cong – Hai Phong Trade Union” app has also introduced an additional channel for financial assistance, making preferential loans more accessible to workers.
Following President Ho Chi Minh’s spirit of hard work, self-learning and creativity, the “Good Labor, Creative Labor” movement has gained broad momentum. In 2026, workers across the city contributed more than 47,000 initiatives and innovative solutions.
Alongside emulation movements, organizational reforms and digital transformation in union-member management have also made significant progress. More than 99.2% of grassroots trade unions have updated their membership data, covering more than 643,000 union members on the system.
2026 also marks the first year Hai Phong has taken the lead nationwide in piloting the “Socialist Grassroots Trade Union” model at 65 organizations.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Hai Phong Federation of Labor, affirmed that in the coming period, trade unions at all levels across the city will continue to promote the study and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and lifestyle; renew the content and methods of their activities; place greater focus on the grassroots level; and provide increasingly better care for the material and spiritual well-being of union members and workers. They will also develop more effective models, practical approaches and outstanding examples to create a strong and far-reaching impact throughout society.
During the 2021–2025 period, nearly VND 300 billion in resources was mobilized for social welfare programs and initiatives to improve workers’ living conditions. Trade unions at all levels mobilized union members and workers to donate more than 15,600 units of blood and provided funding of over VND 50 billion to build and repair more than 300 “Trade Union Shelters” for workers in need.
Across the city, more than 160,000 solutions and initiatives were recorded, while 561 projects received the “Creative Labor” Certificate of Merit, generating more than VND 405 billion in economic benefits for businesses and the state budget.
More than 20,400 outstanding union members were recommended to the Party for consideration, training and admission.
