19 Hai Phong athletes and coaches to compete at ASIAD 20
Hai Phong has 19 athletes and coaches joining the national teams competing at ASIAD 20 in canoeing, rowing, sailing, athletics, archery, shooting and gymnastics.
Among the 19 Hai Phong athletes and coaches to compete at ASIAD 20, many have made outstanding contributions to the city’s and Vietnam’s sports.
Coach Tran Quoc Cuong competed at the 2016 Brazil Olympics and won nearly 20 gold medals at the SEA Games and Asian Games. After the 31st SEA Games, he became a coach of the national shooting team.
Shooter Pham Quang Huy won gold medals at ASIAD 19 and the SEA Games. Meanwhile, archer Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu competed at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and won gold medals at the SEA Games.
In rowing and other boat racing events, Hai Phong rowers have also achieved notable results, with most having won SEA Games and Asian championships.
With a large and experienced contingent, Hai Phong's members are expected to continue contributing to the achievements of the Vietnamese delegation at the upcoming ASIAD.
The 2026 Asian Games – ASIAD 20, also known as the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, is to take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026, with around 15,000 athletes and officials participating in the organization and competition across 43 official sports.
