Hai Phong's purchasing power surges
Purchasing power in Hai Phong continued to rise in August, bringing the city's total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the first eight months of 2026 to nearly VND 283 trillion.

Total retail sales of goods and service revenue in Hai Phong in August were estimated at VND 38.15 trillion, up 3.36% month on month and nearly 18% year on year.
In the first eight months of 2026, total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the city reached VND 282.904 trillion, an increase of 15.92% compared to the same period in 2025.
Purchasing power in the market continued to be sustained and showed an upward trend, driven by demand for shopping for the 2026 - 2027 school year, consumption during the seventh lunar month's full moon period, as well as late-summer tourism, accommodation, dining, leisure and entertainment activities.
Cultural, commercial and tourism activities held during the month also provided additional momentum for the market.
Purchasing power was supported by the spillover effects of industrial production, import-export activities, seaports and logistics.
Following the first phase of Hai Phong's promotional month, which attracted more than 800 businesses, enterprises, shopping malls, supermarkets and distribution networks continued to roll out various promotion and discount programs for consumption stimulation.
