Building equal and progressive workplaces not only is the responsibility of businesses or trade unions but also requires the active participation of workers.

Workers actively contribute opinions

At the administrative area of HHP Global JSC, a “Wish Tree” is displayed, with pieces of paper hanging from it on which workers have written their wishes and aspirations. The company’s workforce is relatively stable, with little turnover, perhaps thanks to its adherence to the principle of “Respecting and valuing workers.”

Workers also exercise their role as owners by actively contributing opinions, participating in dialogues, helping develop internal rules and regulations, and working with businesses to resolve arising issues.

Le Thi Sa, a worker at Wayne Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Japan - Hai Phong Industrial Park, shared that in early 2026, when the regional base salary increased, many workers at the company proposed that the employer raise basic salaries or increase allowances so that their livelihoods would be less affected by rising consumer prices. These opinions were collected by the company’s trade union and raised at the workers’ conference. The executive director directly explained the situation and proposed appropriate support measures, leaving workers satisfied with and supportive of the company’s approach.

Responding to workers’ needs and aspirations, the owner of Regent Garment Factory Ltd. in Nam Sach Industrial Park has continuously improved welfare benefits, including increasing transportation support from VND 600,000 to VND 900,000 per person per month; the attendance allowance from VND 300,000 to VND 500,000 per month; and bereavement and wedding allowances from VND 200,000 to VND 500,000. For workers living far away, the company also helps them find suitable rental accommodation so that they can quickly settle into their lives.

Harmonious and sustainable labor relations

To build harmonious and sustainable labor relations, since the beginning of the year, more than 2,300 businesses across the city have organized workers’ conferences and workplace dialogues; nearly 2,600 grassroots trade unions have participated in developing and implementing grassroots democracy regulations.

Trade unions at all levels have participated in negotiations and newly signed 130 collective labor agreements; provided legal advice for more than 1,000 union members and workers; and participated in seven monitoring activities and one social consultation activity related to policies and benefits for workers.

As a result, workers’ rights and interests are ensured in accordance with the law, strengthening their commitment to their employers.

Park Sang Jun, Director of Commercial Business Support at LG Electronics Vietnam Hai Phong Co., Ltd. in Trang Due Industrial Park, said that as production and business activities increasingly demand higher productivity, quality and competitiveness, businesses need a workforce that feels secure in their jobs, trusts the company and is willing to stay with it for the long term. At LG Electronics Vietnam Hai Phong, every achievement made over the years has been the result of the companionship, efforts and dedication of thousands of workers.

In 2026, the Hai Phong Confederation of Labor selected 65 units to pilot the “Socialist grassroots trade union” model. The confederation developed an assessment framework comprising four standards and eight groups of criteria, with a 100-point scale covering all aspects of trade union activities.

Based on the selection of 65 grassroots trade unions to pilot the model, the Hai Phong Confederation of Labor will conduct a preliminary review and assessment, gradually improve and expand the model in the following years. This will strengthen workers’ role in participating in and creating an effective working environment, give the city an additional “highlight” in attracting high-quality human resources, and create a foundation for sustainable development.
