Hai Phong People's Committee Chairman Do Thanh Trung receives Kazakh ambassador
Hai Phong's leadership and the Kazakh ambassador agreed to strengthen cooperation in economy, trade, investment, logistics, education, and energy.
Do Thanh Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee and Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee, received Kanat Tumysh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Vietnam, for a courtesy meeting on August 14.
Introducing Hai Phong's socio-economic achievements, Chairman Do Thanh Trung said the city has an economic scale of more than USD 29 billion, ranks third in Vietnam, and has maintained double-digit growth for 11 consecutive years.
He highlighted Hai Phong's unique transportation advantages, with all five major transport modes: road, railway, inland waterway, maritime, and aviation. The city is focusing on developing modern, integrated infrastructure and strengthening connections among seaports, economic zones, industrial parks, and logistics centers, with the goal of becoming northern Vietnam's international logistics hub.
Chairman Do Thanh Trung expressed his hope that the ambassador's working visit would further strengthen the friendship between Vietnam and Kazakhstan while promoting cooperation between Hai Phong and Kazakh localities and businesses, particularly in economy, trade, investment, and logistics.
Welcoming the ambassador's proposals for cooperation in local partnerships, trade, investment, industry, agriculture, culture and education, tourism, maritime transport, logistics, and energy, Chairman Do Thanh Trung said these areas are fully aligned with Hai Phong's development strategy in the coming time, especially its priorities in green growth, energy transition, modern logistics, and high-tech industry.
He affirmed that Hai Phong is ready to facilitate connections between local authorities and businesses and promote concrete cooperation opportunities based on the strengths and needs of both sides, making cooperation with Kazakhstan increasingly substantive and effective.
Expressing his pleasure at returning to Hai Phong, Ambassador Kanat Tumysh said the city's advantages and development potential create many opportunities for cooperation with Kazakh localities and enterprises.
The ambassador proposed strengthening direct links between Hai Phong and Kazakhstan's localities, including exploring the establishment of a sister-city relationship between Hai Phong and Atyrau Province based on their shared characteristics, complementary strengths, and mutual potential, thereby creating a foundation for expanding concrete cooperation programs between the two localities.
The ambassador added that following his visit, he would continue promoting connections between Hai Phong and Kazakh localities and businesses to turn the cooperation opportunities discussed into practical and effective programs.
