Cat Bi Airport cargo terminal targeted for handover in Aug
The Cat Bi International Airport cargo terminal project is entering its final completion phase, with construction progress reaching around 98%.
According to the contractor of the Cat Bi International Airport cargo terminal project, by early August, the main terminal had been largely completed, with screening systems, cargo weighing systems, fire prevention and firefighting systems, and other operational equipment fully installed. Infrastructure items, including connecting roads and the parking area, have also been largely completed.
The contractor is focusing on paving around 4,000 m2 of the technical building area, completing technical infrastructure, conducting industrial cleaning and carrying out final works to prepare for the handover of the entire facility in August. The terminal is expected to begin operation in the second half of 2026.
The Cat Bi International Airport cargo terminal project, invested in by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), covers an area of 86,776 m2 and has a total investment of around VND 725 billion. The facility features a single-story prefabricated steel structure with a designed capacity of 100,000 tons of cargo per year, expandable to 250,000 tons per year.
Located near the seaport system and industrial parks that are home to many FDI enterprises, particularly in electronics and high-tech industries, the cargo terminal is expected to help establish a multimodal transport chain and enhance logistics capacity in Hai Phong and the northern coastal region.
