Fast-tracking NH5 – NH10 link road

Construction is underway on two overpasses crossing National Highway 10 at the starting interchange in Vinh Thuan Commune and the ending interchange in Vinh Hai Commune. The bridges are 284.2 m and 302.2 m long, respectively, both 25.5 m wide and designed with six traffic lanes. These structures are among the key links along the route connecting National Highway 5 and National Highway 10 through Vinh Bao area of Hai Phong city.

Once completed, the two interchanges will reduce traffic conflicts and expand urban development space at the city's southwestern gateway.

The route connecting National Highway 5 and National Highway 10 through Vinh Bao area is nearly 8 km long, with a roadbed width ranging from 43.5 m to 50.5 m, including three automobile lanes and a frontage road in each direction.

With a total investment of VND 3,757.3 billion, the project passes through five communes, requiring the acquisition of approximately 58.3 ha of land and affecting 935 households.

The project comprises two main construction packages, both of which have a construction period of 30 months, with completion scheduled for November 2028.

To accelerate implementation and the disbursement of public investment, the Hai Phong Transport Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board has instructed contractors to simultaneously implement construction solutions with the goal of completing the project before December 31, 2027.

As one of the city's key transport projects at its southwestern gateway, construction began immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony. Speeding up progress is considered essential, as the project has been allocated up to VND 1.26 trillion in public investment for 2026.

The investor and local authorities have been urged to expedite site clearance, open multiple construction fronts, maintain work through public holidays and the Lunar New Year, and operate three shifts with four work teams a day to make full use of the dry season later this year.

Once completed, the route will strengthen transport links between the inner city and the western part of Hai Phong while improving connectivity with the coastal areas of Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, and Thanh Hoa, forming an interregional transport network. It will also create a transport corridor linking National Highways 5, 10, and 37, the Ha Noi – Hai Phong Expressway, and the coastal road, helping ease congestion on heavily trafficked routes.

To maximize the project's effectiveness, the city also needs to accelerate several related transport projects, including the expansion of the road connecting Provincial Road 354 in Tien Lang Commune with National Highway 10 in Vinh Thuan Commune; the National Highway 5 – National Highway 10 connector through Kien An, An Lao, and Tien Lang; and Ring Road 2 on Tan Vu – Hung Dao – Bui Vien section. At the same time, Hung Yen Province is encouraged to complete and put into operation the road connecting Nghin 2 bridge. These projects will enhance interregional connectivity and support urban and industrial development in Hai Phong's southwestern area in the coming years.
