Profit surges

Over the past month, Haiphong Port TIL International Terminal Co., Ltd. (HTIT), the operator of Berths 3 and 4 at Lach Huyen terminal area, welcomed two new international shipping services. On July 22, the terminal successfully received the ZIM MOUNT OLYMPUS, operating on the ZXB service connecting Vietnam with major economic and logistics hubs across Asia and the US East Coast.

Earlier, in mid-June, HTIT welcomed the XIN TAI CANG, which launched the SEI2 service linking Hai Phong with Southeast Asian countries and India. Notably, the service provides a direct connection between Hai Phong and Mundra Port, one of India's key logistics gateways, helping optimize transit time and transportation costs while improving supply chain efficiency for import-export businesses.

In 2026, Hai Phong Port JSC aims to handle 57.3 million tons of cargo, including 2.9 million TEUs of containers.

With the advantages of a deep-water port and a modern cargo-handling system, HTIT has become Hai Phong Port's key asset in attracting shipping lines and new maritime services. From HTIT, leading global carriers such as MSC, CMA CGM, Maersk (MSK), and COSCO operate multiple direct container services to Europe and the US. Although the terminal has been in operation for just over a year since May 2025, cargo throughput reached an impressive more than 310,000 TEUs during the first half of 2026.

Benefiting from its diversified infrastructure and continuous investment in advanced technologies and cargo-handling equipment, Hai Phong Port achieved strong business results in the first six months of 2026. Total cargo throughput reached 24.33 million tons, up 26.7% year on year. Especially, container volume exceeded 1.22 million TEUs, an increase of 31.5% compared with the same period of 2025. Pre-tax profit reached VND 843.62 billion, up 60.4%.

HTIT targets container throughput of 700,000 TEUs in 2026.

As the first year of the 2026 - 2030 term, Hai Phong Port has set ambitious business targets for 2026, aiming for 57.3 million tons of cargo throughput and VND 3.495 trillion in revenue.

Despite strong growth in both cargo volume and profit during the first half of the year, the company has yet to meet its full-year expectations. In the remaining six months, Hai Phong Port aims to handle 33 million tons of cargo, including 1.73 million TEUs of containers, while generating VND 1.8 trillion in revenue. Achieving these goals will require significant determination and effort across the company.

According to Le Hong Quan, General Director of Hai Phong Port JSC, during the remaining months of 2026, the company will focus on marketing activities and attracting targeted shipping lines and maritime services to Tan Vu Port, which will be capable of accommodating vessels of up to 55,000 DWT once all operational requirements are met.

Hai Phong Port is applying advanced port operation technologies to improve productivity and shorten vessel turnaround time.

The company will also strengthen cooperation with strategic carriers, including Maersk (MSK), MSC, COSCO, Sinolines, and ZGL, and South Korean shipping lines such as Namsung, Pancon, Dongjin, Sinokor, and KMTC to attract new services and increase container throughput.

Despite continued uncertainties in the global political and economic environment, mounting pressure on the maritime industry, and increasingly intense competition, Hai Phong Port has maintained impressive growth in both cargo volume and revenue. This performance provides a solid foundation for the company to accelerate its development during the remainder of 2026.
