Hai Phong warned of widespread thunderstorms, lightning
Widespread thunderstorms are expected across Hai Phong on the morning of July 31 as convective clouds move inland from the coastal area between Hai Phong and Hung Yen.
According to Hai Phong Hydrometeorological Station, thunderstorms affected Nam Do Son, Do Son, and Cat Hai special zone early on the morning of July 31, along with many communes and wards in the southern, southeastern, and eastern parts of the city, including Bach Dang, Hoa Binh, Nam Trieu, Thuy Nguyen, Hong Bang, Ngo Quyen, Le Chan, Gia Vien, An Bien, Kien An, Phu Lien, Hai An, Duong Kinh, Tien Lang, and Vinh Bao. The thunderstorms are likely to spread to neighboring areas.
The meteorological agency warned that the thunderstorms may be accompanied by whirlwinds, lightning, and strong gusts, which could uproot trees, damage houses and infrastructure, and pose risks to public safety. The natural disaster risk level for whirlwinds, lightning, and hail is set at Level 1.
During the day and night of July 31, Hai Phong is expected to remain mostly cloudy. Around the city's administrative center and Theater, rain, showers, and thunderstorms are forecast in the morning, followed by decreasing cloud cover and sunny weather at midday and in the afternoon. No rain is expected at night. Temperatures will range from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.
