Hai Phong has launched a wide range of meaningful activities to support the material and spiritual well-being of policy beneficiary families and people with meritorious service.
Marking the 79th War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 – 2026), authorities at all levels, sectors, and localities across Hai Phong have carried out numerous practical activities and mobilized resources to care for policy beneficiary families and people with meritorious service to the revolution. On this occasion, many gratitude projects have been completed and put into use. In the photo: The Martyrs' Memorial of Gia Loc Commune was renovated with nearly VND 27 billion.On July 15, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac An Phu Ward, in coordination with Factory Z173 under the General Department of Defense Industry, inaugurates and hands over one gratitude house to the family of Cao Xuan Dinh, a person with meritorious service, and two great unity houses to the families of Tien Quang Toan and Nguyen Thi Dan, who are facing difficult circumstances in the locality.Many localities have actively supported housing construction for people with meritorious service. In Nam Dong Ward, the ward Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and Military Command have provided VND 100 million from Central and city budgets, along with 168 workdays, to build a gratitude house for the family of Cao Van Viet, a victim of Agent Orange.Activities honoring the fallen and caring for spiritual well-being have also been widely organized. The Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Military Command, and mass organizations of Nam An Phu Commune have offered incense and flowers in tribute to fallen heroes and organized a cleanup campaign at local martyrs' cemeteries.Many organizations and individuals come to the K15 Wharf historical site in Do Son Ward to offer incense and pay tribute during the July commemorative period.The atmosphere of gratitude has spread throughout the city, helping educate younger generations and reminding them of the immense sacrifices made by the nation's fallen heroes.Health care for policy beneficiaries has also received close attention. On this occasion, medical staff from the Hai Duong General Hospital, the DND Hai Duong International Eye Hospital, and the Vietnam Institute of Marine Medicine have provided general health checkups, medical consultations, and free medicines to 150 former youth volunteers, veterans, people with meritorious service, and elderly residents in Bac An Phu Ward.The Youth Union of the Party Agencies of Hai Phong organizes a "Gratitude Meal" at the home of Tran Van Dinh, a war invalid in Nguyen Dai Nang Ward.The Hai Phong Youth Union, in collaboration with FPT Polytechnic Hai Phong College, implements the Stories from the Years of Fire project, presenting 400 digitally restored portraits of martyrs to their families across the city.The practical and meaningful activities held around July 27 embody the Vietnamese tradition of remembering those who came before us and reflect the profound gratitude of the Party organization, authorities, and people of Hai Phong toward fallen heroes, war invalids, sick veterans, and people with meritorious service to the revolution.
