Strong potential

Hai Phong is one of the Red River Delta's leading agricultural production centers. Each year, the city's farmers produce about 1 million tons of paddy, 1.2 million tons of vegetables and other crops, and 450,000 tons of fruit.

Many concentrated material production areas have been formed and met VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic standards with planting area codes, geographical indications, and collective trademarks, meeting the requirements of both domestic and export markets.

The city's aquatic catch in the first six months of 2026 was estimated at nearly 59,000 tons. During the same period, output of live-weight meat reached more than 133,500 tons, poultry meat production exceeded 75,000 tons, and poultry egg production was estimated at more than 472 million eggs.

Trade promotion activities provide production and business establishments with opportunities to introduce and promote agricultural products to consumers.

Agricultural enterprises and producers across the city have adopted high technology and advanced techniques while developing closed value chains.

After meeting the strict assessment standards for linked rice production areas, Kien Quoc Agriculture JSC in Hai An Ward obtained USDA Organic certification issued by the US Department of Agriculture. It is the first enterprise in northern Vietnam to receive the certification, paving the way for Hai Phong rice to enter international markets.

Boosting linkages

Hai Phong has more than 600 recognized OCOP products that remain valid, providing a diverse supply of agricultural products and processed foods.

In addition to expanding the supply of agricultural products through retail systems, functional authorities have promoted and implemented programs to connect the consumption of agricultural products with major corporations.

According to Vu Thu Huong, Head of Supply and Head of the Northern Regional Supply Division at Sun Group, the company has strong demand for clean, high-quality raw materials that meet food safety standards to serve its projects and resorts.

The group highly appreciated the supply-demand connection event organized by the city Department of Agriculture and Environment in early July and expressed confidence in future cooperation to strengthen linkages, expand market access for agricultural products, and promote the development of high-tech and organic agriculture in Hai Phong.

According to Luong Thi Kiem, Deputy Director of the city Department of Agriculture and Environment, companies such as Sun Group and some other units have very high requirements for agricultural product quality and food safety. Hai Phong's agricultural products are well positioned to meet those requirements.

In the coming period, the department will continue organizing matching programs between producers and buyers to help create stable market outlets and expand domestic and international markets for the city's agricultural products.
