Vietnam customs moves to facilitate agricultural exports
Vietnam's Customs has instructed regional customs offices to speed up clearance of agricultural exports, particularly durian, in a move to support exporters and prevent congestion at border gates.

In a directive issued on July 16, the department called on regional customs offices to implement measures to facilitate customs clearance for agricultural exports, with particular priority given to durian shipments.
The department also instructed customs offices to provide maximum support and complete customs clearance on the same day for exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products.
Any issues arising during customs procedures must be resolved immediately. Cases beyond the authority of regional customs offices should be promptly reported to the Customs Department for guidance.
Customs offices were also instructed to coordinate with warehouse and yard operators at border gates to arrange storage space and facilitate the preservation and sorting of goods while awaiting export, helping maintain product quality.
In addition, regional customs offices were required to regularly update information on agricultural, forestry and fishery exports, provide timely guidance and recommendations to exporters, and work closely with relevant authorities to manage traffic and prevent congestion at border crossings.
The department also instructed regional customs offices to maintain regular communication with Chinese authorities to resolve unexpected issues and promptly notify Vietnamese exporters of changes to China's import management policies.
For shipments that have already been exported but fail to meet China's import requirements and are returned to Vietnam, customs authorities need to give priority to re-import procedures.
The Customs Department also prohibited customs officials from unnecessary delays or inconvenience during customs clearance or practices that increase costs and cause losses for businesses.
