Hai Phong strengthens safety measures during summer peak season
Tourism in Cat Ba, Hai Phong, is entering the peak travel season. A range of coordinated management measures is being implemented to ensure visitor safety.

Stepping up inspections
In mid-July, the Cai Beo pier area in the Cat Ba tourist site, Cat Hai Special Zone, was bustling with tourist boats arriving and departing. Along with streams of visitors boarding vessels, authorities were also regularly on hand to inspect vessel documents, life-saving equipment and passenger numbers before departure.
Safety work has also been strengthened at beaches. All beaches in the tourist area are assigned lifeguards throughout the summer. Warning signs and markers delimiting safe swimming zones are checked daily.

Preserving a safe destination image
Since the start of the year, Cat Hai Special Zone has welcomed more than 2.7 million visitors, up more than 21 percent from the same period last year. Tourism revenue has reached more than VND 2.8 trillion. Visitor arrivals continue to rise sharply in July, placing heavy pressure on management work.
During the summer, millions of tourists flock to the area to relax and explore Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago, a World Natural Heritage site. Behind the impressive growth figures, however, lies a growing demand to ensure safety for visitors.

Cat Hai Special Zone is urgently consolidating the steering committee for tourism development, maintaining the operations of the inter-sector inspection team, and coordinating with the city’s and Quang Ninh Province’s relevant forces to step up checks on vessels operating in the bays of the Cat Ba archipelago. Vessels running off-route, failing to meet requirements or violating passenger transport regulations will be strictly handled.
Tightened management is not only an immediate requirement but also a long-term solution to preserve Cat Ba’s image as a safe, civilized and friendly destination, creating conditions for sustainable tourism development.
