Nearly 200,000 workers register for “Trade Union Meal”
The Hai Phong Labor Federation will organize the “Trade Union Meal” program from July 15 to August 31 on the 97th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Trade Union.

The Hai Phong Labor Federation has planned to organize the “Trade Union Meal” program to mark the 97th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026) and celebrate the success of the 14th Viet Nam Trade Union Congress.
The program will run from July 15 to August 31, 2026, with a peak period around July 28, aiming to encourage employers to improve the quality of shift meals and create a space for workers, trade unions, and company and local leaders to share views, listen to concerns and aspirations, and strengthen bonds among the parties.
The “Trade Union Meal” will be held at grassroots trade unions in enterprises that provide daily shift meals or lunch at the workplace for union members and workers.
The city Labor Federation has asked participating units to ensure meal value is higher than usual, based on support from trade unions, businesses and socialized resources, if any, while strictly complying with food safety and hygiene regulations.
To support the program, the city Labor Federation will provide 0.25 kg of rice per person per meal and one 60 ml bottle of Cat Hai fish sauce for every three union members and workers.
According to the survey, nearly 200,000 union members and workers throughout the city have registered to join the “Trade Union Meal” program, with an estimated support package of around 50 tons of rice and 66,700 bottles of fish sauce.
Grassroots trade unions will balance financial resources to provide up to VND 50,000 per meal, while businesses and other units are encouraged to mobilize additional resources to improve meal quality for workers.
