High tides raise flood risk in Hai Phong through July 17
Hai Phong has warned of flooding in low-lying riverside areas as high tides are expected to remain high through July 17.
According to the Hai Phong Hydro-Meteorological Station, water levels on several rivers across the city continue to run high due to the ongoing tidal surge.
High tides are forecast to continue through July 17.
High water levels could flood low-lying riverside areas to depths of 0.2 to 0.5 meters, affecting inland waterway transport, agricultural production, aquaculture, and other economic and social activities.
Residents and local authorities are advised to closely monitor the situation and take preventive measures to minimize potential damage.
Hai Phong is expected to remain dry during the day on July 15, with sunshine developing from midday into the afternoon and isolated hot conditions in some areas. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast overnight.
In the city center, including the administrative center and the City Theatre, skies will be mostly cloudy with no daytime rain. Sunshine is expected from midday into the afternoon before occasional showers and thunderstorms develop overnight. Temperatures will range from 26 to 34 degrees Celsius.
Northwestern and southwestern parts of the city are forecast to see sunny weather during the day, with isolated hot conditions and highs of around 35 degrees Celsius. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected overnight.
Coastal areas, including the Cat Hai and Do Son special zones, are forecast to remain dry during the day with sunny spells, followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms overnight.
Over the Gulf of Tonkin and the Bach Long Vi Special Zone, isolated showers and thunderstorms are forecast during the day, becoming more widespread overnight. Visibility will exceed 10 km, falling to between 4 and 10 km during rainfall.
