The Do Son Tourist Area is steadily building its image as a green, civilized, and welcoming destination through the joint efforts of the local authorities, residents, businesses, and visitors.

Joining hands to keep the coast clean

As the first rays of sunlight rise over the sea, Beach 295 in the Do Son Tourist Area comes to life. On the sand still damp with morning dew, alongside local residents exercising or watching the sunrise, environmental sanitation workers, youth union members, local officials, and many beachfront business owners can be seen diligently collecting litter, tree branches, water hyacinths, and debris washed ashore after each tide.

These quiet daily efforts have become a familiar sight at Do Son’s beaches in recent months. Many restaurant owners and tourism service providers have also taken the initiative to clean the areas surrounding their businesses before welcoming visitors each day.

In reality, during the peak summer tourism season, Beach 295 has welcomed an increasing number of residents and visitors, particularly on weekends. Along with the growing number of tourists comes mounting pressure on environmental sanitation efforts.

Located at the mouth of a river flowing into the sea, Beach 295 receives large amounts of branches, water hyacinths, driftwood, and other debris carried ashore by natural currents every day. In addition, waste generated from the recreational and dining activities of some residents and visitors has made maintaining the beach landscape even more challenging.

Nevertheless, with a strong commitment to maintaining a clean and attractive coastal environment, local authorities, relevant agencies, and mass organizations continue to carry out regular environmental cleanup activities. Every weekend, dozens of bags of litter, branches, water hyacinths, and floating debris are collected and removed from the beach, restoring a clean, open, and pleasant coastal landscape.

Encouragingly, this spirit of environmental responsibility is spreading throughout the community. Whereas beach cleanups were once carried out primarily by local authorities, more and more visitors are now voluntarily collecting litter after swimming and enjoying the beach. These small yet meaningful actions are helping foster a more positive attitude toward protecting the marine environment.

Ms. Vu Thu Ha, a visitor from Hanoi, shared that although she has visited Do Son many times, what impressed her most on this trip was that the beach was noticeably cleaner, the surroundings were more spacious and pleasant, and more people appeared to be conscious of keeping the area clean. She described this as a positive sign for Do Son tourism, noting that a clean destination always provides visitors with a more enjoyable experience and encourages them to return.

Building a green tourism brand

Local residents of Do Son Ward participate in an environmental cleanup at Beach 295.

During the first six months of 2026, Do Son welcomed more than 2.72 million visitors, while revenue from accommodation and food services reached nearly VND 1.7 trillion. These encouraging growth figures reflect the area's increasing appeal as a tourist destination, while also placing greater demands on environmental management and protection.

In response, Do Son Ward is implementing a range of coordinated measures to develop a green, clean, and attractive tourism environment in line with sustainable development goals. These measures focus on improving the landscape, upgrading beachside public spaces, strengthening tourism management, ensuring public security and order, environmental sanitation, and food safety, while also exploring solutions to reduce the amount of waste generated along the coastline.

Mr. Le Quoc Tien, Secretary of the Do Son Ward Party Committee and Chairman of the Ward People's Council, said that building a green, clean, and beautiful environment is not only the responsibility of the local government and relevant authorities but also requires the active participation of the entire community. According to Mr. Tien, the environment is a key factor determining the attractiveness of a tourist destination. Therefore, alongside strengthened management efforts, the ward places great emphasis on raising public awareness and encouraging every resident and visitor to become an "environmental ambassador," joining hands to preserve the beauty of Do Son's coastal landscape.

Do Son is making continuous efforts to maintain clean beaches and promote green tourism.

At the recent conference reviewing the Do Son Ward Party Committee’s performance in the first six months of 2026, Mr. Le Trung Kien, Member of the Standing Committee of the Hai Phong Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee, emphasized that the ward should continue to identify tourism as one of the key pillars of Do Son’s development strategy. He called for greater efforts to effectively capitalize on the area's existing potential and advantages in order to further enhance its appeal to visitors.

Alongside investment in infrastructure and the development of tourism products, Do Son should place greater emphasis on building the image of a civilized and welcoming destination, with environmental protection serving as the foundation for sustainable development.

While the urban landscape and infrastructure cannot be transformed overnight, fostering practical and meaningful values—such as keeping beaches clean, creating green public spaces, promoting a civilized way of life, and encouraging friendly hospitality—is regarded as essential to creating a distinctive identity for Do Son’s tourism.
