Repositioning

Vietnam Post Corporation and Hai Phong Post Office are investing heavily in logistics infrastructure as they reposition the postal sector for future growth. Key projects include the Dinh Vu logistics warehouse and upgrades to operational capacity, creating stronger links between industrial parks, seaports and consumer markets while enabling Hai Phong to make better use of its strategic location under its long-term development strategy.

Vietnam Post Logistics, a subsidiary of Vietnam Post Corporation based in Dinh Vu Industrial Park, has also expanded its footprint with a logistics ecosystem covering 500,000 square meters of warehouse space. According to Nguyen Dinh Cuong, Director of Vietnam Post Logistics Company, the company handles 50,000 containers and exports 1.2 million tons of cargo each month, connecting trade with 230 countries and territories.

Backed by partnerships with international airlines and freight operators, locally manufactured goods are shipped to domestic and overseas markets with competitive transport costs and efficient delivery times. Vietnam Post Logistics is a partner of USPS, DHL, Korean Air, Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Cargolux, and is also a member of international logistics associations including JCtrans and WCA.

Vietnam Post Corporation and Hai Phong's postal sector are targeting annual logistics service growth of between 12% and 15% during the 2025-2035 period as part of efforts to help develop Hai Phong into a modern logistics center for northern Vietnam. Since early 2026, the organization has streamlined its structure and accelerated the adoption of smart management software to support that objective.

Postal carriers at every post office across the city have been equipped with smartphones integrated with route management applications and real-time parcel tracking. Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Transport Management System (TMS) platforms have also been integrated to automate dispatching and optimize transport routes. The postal sector aims to cut logistics operating costs by 10% by 2027.

Towards a central role

Alongside infrastructure investment, developing a highly skilled workforce remains central to achieving the sector's long-term strategy. Hai Phong Post Office currently deploys nearly 1,000 employees to deliver parcels to government agencies, businesses and residents.

Nearly 250 dedicated employees are assigned to the KT1 public administrative postal service, ensuring uninterrupted 24-hour operations. To meet the increasingly demanding requirements of its partners, Vietnam Post Corporation and Hai Phong Post Office are retraining postal carriers, with training focused on digital customer service and the safe, accurate handling of cash-on-delivery (COD) shipments.

Postal carriers are expected not only to collect and deliver shipments but also to respond effectively to issues arising throughout the supply chain. The organization is targeting a 15% increase in labor productivity in 2026 compared with 2025.

Dao Trung Tuyen, Deputy Director of Hai Phong Post Office, said investment in logistics is an investment in future competitiveness. Integrating management solutions with new operating approaches tailored to individual services and localities will help reinforce Hai Phong's postal sector as a strategic pillar of the digital economy.
