Tax Department implements Resolution on extending tax policies for petroleum products

The Tax Department issued Official Dispatch No. 15 to promptly implement Government Resolution No. 34 on extending the application period of the preferential import tax, environmental protection tax, and value-added tax for petroleum products.

The Official Dispatch instructs units across the Tax Department to urgently organize implementation, ensuring that the policy is applied uniformly from its effective date in July 2026.

A representative of the Tax Department stated that the issuance of Official Dispatch No. 15 demonstrates the Department's proactive and decisive approach in promptly implementing the Government's new policies. It also helps ensure that support policies take effect immediately from the first day of implementation, facilitates tax compliance for individuals and businesses, maintains stability in the petroleum market, and promotes socio-economic development.

Earlier, on June 30, the Government issued Resolution No. 34/2026, extending the application period of policies on preferential import tax, environmental protection tax, and value-added tax for gasoline, petroleum products, raw materials used in petroleum production, and aviation fuel. The Resolution takes effect from July 1 through September 30, with the aim of helping stabilize the market, support production and business activities, and promote economic recovery and development.

To ensure consistent implementation, the Tax Department requires Heads of Provincial and Municipal Tax Offices, Directors of the E-commerce Tax Sub-department, and Directors of the Large Enterprise Tax Sub-department to urgently disseminate and thoroughly communicate the contents of the Resolution to all officials within their units. They are also instructed to strengthen communication and provide guidance so that taxpayers can promptly understand the new regulations and comply with the tax policies.

In addition, the Official Dispatch highlights several key points requiring attention, including: extending the application period of Government Resolution No. 25/2026 dated April 30, 2026, and Government Decree No. 72/2026 dated March 9, 2026, until September 30, 2026; and extending the application period of National Assembly Resolution No. 19/2026 dated April 12, 2026, until September 30, 2026, with respect to the environmental protection tax and value-added tax as provided in Articles 1 and 2 of Resolution No. 19/2026.
