Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man emphasized that the awards ceremony held special significance as the entire Party, people, and armed forces are striving to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, while also commemorating the 101st anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2026).

In his address, Chairman Tran Thanh Man noted that every stage of the Party’s history and every period of the nation’s development has been reflected in journalism that captured the spirit of its time. He emphasized that the press has played a pioneering role in safeguarding the Party’s ideological foundation, combating false and hostile viewpoints, criticizing manifestations of ideological, moral, and lifestyle degradation, and taking the lead in the fight against corruption, wastefulness, and other negative practices.
He also highlighted the press’s role in discovering and promoting exemplary individuals and effective initiatives, while spreading values of compassion and humanity throughout society.
According to the Chairman of the National Assembly, the media has made important contributions to disseminating knowledge, preserving and enriching the nation’s spiritual and cultural values, promoting Vietnam’s rich cultural identity, and showcasing the positive image of the country and its people to the international community.

After 20 years of development, the National Press Awards have firmly established their prestige and value, becoming the most distinguished and respected professional journalism award in Vietnam. The awards not only recognize outstanding journalistic works that demonstrate originality, constructive value, and humanity while reflecting the realities of society, but also honor the political integrity, professional ethics, social responsibility, perseverance, dedication, and public trust embodied by journalists.

On behalf of the Party and State leadership, Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his recognition, high appreciation, and warm congratulations to journalists across the country, especially the authors and author groups honored at this year’s awards ceremony.
He emphasized that Vietnam is entering a new stage of development, marked by significant opportunities and prospects, while also facing new challenges and difficulties. In this context, the press must take the lead in innovation and be prepared to shoulder greater responsibilities. He stressed that journalists should never lose sight of the core values of revolutionary journalism: lofty ideals, absolute loyalty to the Party and the nation, a close bond with the people, and an unwavering commitment to placing the interests of the country and the nation above all else.

As emphasized in an article by General Secretary and President of Vietnam To Lam, the press must be a place people turn to when they need reliable information. Society needs trustworthy sources to understand the truth accurately. Citizens need to know what happened, why it happened, who is affected, where responsibility lies, and what solutions are grounded in facts.
Chairman Tran Thanh Man urged the press to communicate the Party’s and State’s policies more effectively and vigorously, spread the spirit of innovation and creativity, and encourage people from all walks of life to actively contribute to the nation’s development. He stressed that the media must remain at the forefront of safeguarding the Party’s ideological foundation and countering false and hostile viewpoints. Wherever distorted or reactionary narratives emerge, the press must respond with strong and persuasive arguments; wherever harmful information or misguided ideas appear, the press must speak the truth and reinforce public confidence.
He also noted that every journalist should possess firm political conviction, strong professional ethics, high-level expertise, and technological proficiency to keep pace with a rapidly changing and challenging media environment. Journalists should strengthen their ability to analyze and critique policies, guide public opinion, and transform the Party’s and State’s policies into public understanding, confidence, and action. He recalled the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh, who advised journalists to always ask themselves: “Who am I writing for? What is the purpose of this article? How can I write it in a way that is simple, clear, concise, and easy to understand?”
Concluding his remarks, Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed confidence that Vietnam’s revolutionary press will continue to develop in a professional, humane, and modern direction, using the power of journalism to serve the nation and the people.

Earlier, in his opening speech, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilization, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and Chairman of the National Press Awards Council Le Quoc Minh emphasized: “The National Press Awards—the most prestigious award for journalists—has now entered its 20th season, a significant journey that is far from short.”
He noted that all submitted works embody a constructive and humanistic spirit of journalism. Together, they paint a vivid picture of the country’s situation in 2025, a year of strong transformation, continuous innovation, and major opportunities, challenges, and aspirations for development.
If he had to identify the most prominent factor that has had the strongest impact on both global and Vietnamese journalism over the past year, he said it would undoubtedly be the explosive rise of AI (artificial intelligence). AI is rapidly transforming newsroom operations and the way reporters and editors work. It is opening new opportunities for journalism in data exploitation, information analysis, content personalization, production optimization, and expanding audience reach.
He added that this year’s ceremony is not only a moment to honor the most outstanding journalistic works of 2025, but also a tribute to generations of Vietnamese revolutionary journalists, while affirming the aspiration for continued innovation, creativity, dedication, and service among journalists in the country’s new stage of development.
