Central press helps promote Hai Phong’s image

Nurturing a love of the profession in new land.

In 2024, after many years as a resident reporter in southern provinces, journalist Mai Huong was reassigned by Lao Dong newspaper to the Northeast region, covering the area formerly under Hai Duong province.

When she first arrived in the new area, Huong was very worried. With few existing contacts, she started again, patiently looking for story ideas, building sources and gradually made acquaintance with local life.

Since the merger of Hai Duong province into Hai Phong city, Huong’s reporting are has been expanded. The blending of two regions with rich traditions and development potential has given her more perspectives.

Like many resident reporters, journalist Nguyen Hoan, Tien Phong’s resident reporter, took his assignment from Hanoi to Hai Phong six years ago. He began life there facing many difficulties and challenges of balancing work and family. The hardships of the job did not deter him; on the contrary, they strengthened his attachment to Hai Phong city.

More than simply delivering news, resident reporters act as bridges that bring Hai Phong closer to readers across the country.

Journalist Nguyen Hoan says that during his time in Hai Phong he has consistently received support from local authorities and relevant departments. As Tien Phong’s only resident reporter in Hai Phong, he carries out reporting duties and takes part in activities that promote the locality.

Currently, Hai Phong hosts about 55 resident bureaus, representative offices and resident reporters from central press agencies, with more than 100 staff and reporters. They form an important force in information and publicity work, helping to bring the city’s image to a wide domestic and international readers./.
