Hai Phong Chairman Do Thanh Trung meets Vice President of the German Bundestag
Hai Phong looks to deepen cooperation with German partners and businesses

Do Thanh Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee and chairman of the city People's Committee, met with Bodo Ramelow, Vice President of the German Bundestag, the country's lower house of parliament, during the German official's visit to the northern port city on June 17.
Also attending the meeting was Helga Margarete Barth, Germany's ambassador to Vietnam.
Chairman Do Thanh Trung said cooperation between Vietnam and Germany had continued to expand across a range of sectors. He said Ramelow's visit to Hai Phong would help strengthen bilateral ties and open up new opportunities for economic, trade and investment cooperation between the city and German localities and businesses, particularly in seaport development, logistics infrastructure and supply chain connectivity.

He outlined Hai Phong's recent socio-economic achievements, saying the city had increasingly reinforced its role as northern Vietnam's main gateway to the sea, an industrial hub, a transportation center and one of the country's most dynamic growth engines. Hai Phong is the only locality in Vietnam to have maintained double-digit growth for 11 consecutive years and aims to achieve annual GRDP growth of 13-14% during 2026-2030.
The city is currently home to 14 German-invested projects with combined registered capital of more than $273 million. The presence of German businesses has contributed to Hai Phong's economic development and provided a favorable foundation for broader cooperation between the city and Germany in the coming years.
With ambitions to become an international logistics hub and a modern port services center for northern Vietnam, Hai Phong hopes to strengthen cooperation with German partners and businesses in transport infrastructure planning, seaport development and modern logistics, he said. Such cooperation would contribute to the city's development and further deepen friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and Germany.

Vice President of the German Bundestag Bodo Ramelow congratulated Hai Phong on its rapid socio-economic development and said he was impressed by the city's achievement of maintaining double-digit GRDP growth for 11 straight years.
He highlighted several areas with strong potential for cooperation between Hai Phong and Germany, including seaport development, transport infrastructure and logistics, as well as vocational education and workforce development, combining Germany's technological strengths and expertise with Vietnam's young and skilled labor force.
Hai Phong Chairman Do Thanh Trung thanked Vice President of the German Bundestag Bodo Ramelow and expressed hope that the vice president of the German Bundestag and the German Embassy in Vietnam would continue serving as a bridge to connect German localities, businesses and investors with Hai Phong.
He said the city was committed to creating favorable conditions for businesses and investors to operate effectively and deliver mutual benefits.
