Heatwave ends as widespread thunderstorms forecast in Hai Phong
Widespread thunderstorms are expected to affect Hai Phong from June 15 to 17, bringing an end to the recent hot spell, according to the Hai Phong Hydro-meteorological Station.

The weather conditions are being caused by a low-pressure trough over northern Vietnam combined with upper-level wind convergence, the agency said.
Moderate rain and thunderstorms are forecast across much of the city, with heavy rain possible in some areas. Rainfall is forecast at 30-70 mm, with some places receiving more than 100 mm.
On June 15, cloudy skies, showers and thunderstorms are expected in the city's administrative centre and around the City Theatre area, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.
Northwestern and southwestern parts of the city are also forecast to see thunderstorms, with daytime temperatures reaching 32-33 degrees Celsius.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in coastal areas, including Cat Hai Special Zone and Do Son, as well as over the Gulf of Tonkin and Bach Long Vi Special Zone.
The meteorological agency warned residents of the risks of whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong winds during thunderstorms. Localized heavy rain could cause flooding in low-lying areas and disrupt transport, farming activities and daily life.
The agency also warned of flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides in hilly areas.
