After one month of implementation, the 2026 Humanitarian Month campaign, themed “80 Years – A Journey of Compassion for the Community,” raised nearly VND 762 billion and provided assistance to more than 578,800 disadvantaged and vulnerable people nationwide, surpassing its established targets.

This information was announced at the review conference for Humanitarian Month 2026, organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society on June 11 in Hanoi.

This year's campaign was launched in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (November 23, 1946 – November 23, 2026) and the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Red Cross Society. It continued to affirm its role as a nationwide humanitarian initiative, mobilizing government agencies, businesses, organizations, philanthropists, and the public to support people facing difficult circumstances.

The launch ceremony was held both in person and online, connecting with model “Compassionate Community” projects in Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, and An Giang, as well as more than 3,000 local participation points nationwide.

During the event, government agencies, organizations, and businesses pledged resources worth more than VND 310 billion through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society. Meanwhile, provincial and municipal Red Cross chapters committed to mobilizing and implementing additional resources valued at over VND 310 billion.

One of the most notable features of Humanitarian Month 2026 was the first-ever nationwide implementation of the “Day of Compassion” across the entire Red Cross system. A total of 30 out of 34 provinces and centrally governed cities organized the event in conjunction with their provincial Humanitarian Month launch ceremonies, representing nearly 90% participation, while 1,117 communes and wards held related activities at the grassroots level.

Red Cross organizations at all levels carried out a wide range of practical support activities. Highlights included livelihood assistance for 5,701 disadvantaged households, the construction, renovation, or support of 1,444 humanitarian projects and initiatives, and medical examinations and health consultations for nearly 110,000 people.
