Youth volunteers provide support for graduation exam candidates
Thousands of young volunteers have been mobilized across Hai Phong to support candidates taking the 2026 national high school graduation exam, helping them head into the tests with greater confidence.

Boosting candidates’ confidence
As candidates completed registration procedures on June 10, the exam support teams, comprising 6,104 Youth Union members and volunteers, were present at every exam venue across the city.
Outside Ben Tam High School in Nguyen Trai Ward, hundreds of candidates arrived to complete formalities ahead of the exams. Beginning at 1 p.m., volunteers guided students to their exam rooms, handed out free drinking water and assisted parents accompanying their children.
Nguyen Thien Linh, a 10th-grade student at Ben Tam High School, said volunteers had helped him feel less pressured when he took the exam last year. Hence, he signed up for the campaign this year.

"Even a bottle of water or a few words of encouragement can help candidates feel more at ease before entering the exam room", Linh said.
After a briefing on exam rules, candidate Dang Thi Diem Quynh received a bottle of water and words of encouragement from volunteers.
"The encouragement from the volunteers made me feel more relaxed and confident," Quynh said.
A similar atmosphere prevailed at Nguyen Van Cu High School in Hai Duong Ward, where volunteers offered both practical support and encouragement to help candidates stay confident ahead of the exams.
Vu Thu Huong, Deputy Secretary of the Hai Duong Ward Youth Union, said the union had also presented 10 gifts worth 500,000 dong each to disadvantaged students who had overcome hardship to perform well in school.

Support continues after exams
The Exam Support campaign is one of five key activities under the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign.
During this year's high school entrance and graduation exams, Youth Unions and Student Associations at all levels rolled out a range of initiatives aimed at supporting candidates.
Ahead of the exams, the Hai Phong Youth Union and the city Student Association joined hands with agencies, organizations and businesses to organize online career guidance programs, attracting more than 41,600 participants.
Across the city, 1,042 gifts worth a combined 560 million dong were distributed, while study materials worth 108 million dong were provided to more than 10,000 candidates. More than 9,300 students received psychological counseling and emotional support, while around 1,000 benefited from pre-exam health support.

During the exam period, volunteers helped candidates complete procedures, check exam room information, review regulations and make sure they had all the necessary documents.
Teams also stood ready to assist students facing health issues, forgotten documents or shortages of school supplies, while providing free transportation for disadvantaged and disabled candidates.
Youth Unions and Student Associations at all levels across the city distributed more than 145,000 bottles of water, 72,000 handheld fans and over 21,000 other essential items for candidates, their families and volunteers. The total value of resources mobilized reached about 1.7 billion dong.
After the graduation exams, Hai Phong plans to establish 65 volunteer teams comprising 2,535 Youth Union members and young volunteers to help students complete university enrollment procedures, provide guidance on academic programs and continue supporting them as they begin higher education.
