Do Son sets sights on becoming become Hai Phong’s year-round tourism hub
For a long time, Do Son is well-known for its distinctive beauty of the northern coastal region. Located between the mouths of the Lach Tray and Van Uc rivers, Do Son Beach features a stretch of sand colored brown by alluvial deposits. That distinctive feature is part of Do Son’s unique appeal.
Visitors to Do Son can enjoy a range of attractions within an open, spacious setting. Beyond the shoreline, Do Son enchants with a rare harmony of forest and sea. A highlight of that natural picture is the Dragon Mangrove Forest, regarded as the “green lung” of the Do Son peninsula. In 2025 local authorities, in partnership with Dragon Hill International Resort, began developing the area under an ecological park model.
Do Son offers many attractive destinations along its shores. In addition to ecotourism products, the locality has in recent years promoted community-based tourism. Travelers can immerse themselves in fishermen’s daily life with authentic experiences such as going out to sea to haul nets, squid fishing, seafood processing and living alongside local residents.

Do Son is also home to famous spiritual and historical sites, including Hang Pagoda, considered the point where Buddhism first entered Vietnam by sea, and the Bao Dai royal villa; K15 wharf, the starting point of the legendary Ho Chi Minh maritime route; the old fuel depot and Ben Nghien wharf, among others.
This coastal land also preserves a wealth of distinctive festivals that enrich cultural life and attract visitors. The Hon Dau island festival showcases maritime community identity; the spring dragon-boat races; and the Do Son traditional buffalo-fighting festival, a national intangible cultural heritage event held in autumn, all draw large numbers of domestic and international tourists.
With its vast sea, verdant forests, millennia-old relics and vibrant festivals, Do Son is opening up a full-year travel experience, in which each season displays its own charms to captivate visitors.
