Emerging destinations attract Vietnamese travelers for summer 2026
Vietnamese travelers are increasingly seeking new and less crowded destinations offering nature, cultural and resort experiences during the 2026 summer season.
According to Agoda, domestic destinations such as Ly Son Island, Ninh Binh and Mang Den, along with international destinations including Cebu City, Barcelona and Istanbul, have recorded strong growth in searches.
Vietnamese travelers seek new experiences
Agoda, the digital travel platform recently released a list of emerging destinations attracting growing interest from Vietnamese travelers this summer.
Ly Son Island in Quang Ngai Province topped the list of emerging domestic destinations. Clear waters, natural landscapes, coral reefs and a peaceful pace of life have made the island an alternative to crowded beach destinations such as Phu Quoc, Phu Quy Island and Vinh Hy Bay.
Ninh Binh also recorded stable growth in searches thanks to its combination of natural scenery, heritage and cultural tourism. Destinations such as Hoa Lu Ancient Capital and Tam Coc-Bich Dong continue to attract visitors with limestone mountains, caves and waterways.
Mai Chau has also remained popular among travelers seeking nature-based holidays with convenient access from Hanoi. The area attracts visitors with terraced rice fields, ethnic culture and traditional stilt houses.
Another destination appearing on the list was Kon Von Kle, commonly known as Mang Den. The destination has increasingly been viewed as an alternative to the busier Da Lat, with pine forests, mountain scenery and a slower pace of life attracting visitors.
According to Agoda, Mang Den’s inclusion in the rankings reflects growing interest among Vietnamese travelers in lesser-known highland destinations.
Tay Ninh was also among destinations attracting attention thanks to tourism development in recent years. Its proximity to Ho Chi Minh City, together with the Ba Den Mountain spiritual tourism complex and upgraded infrastructure, has helped attract visitors for pilgrimages, cultural experiences and eco-tourism.
International destinations gain attention
Vietnamese travelers are also increasingly searching for international destinations for mid-year holidays. According to Agoda data, Cebu Island in the Philippines recorded the strongest increase in searches.
Kaohsiung has also attracted attention for its port setting, night markets and coastal cultural attractions.
Meanwhile, Barcelona continues to attract travelers interested in architecture, Mediterranean culture and football.
In Japan, Fujikawaguchiko has become a destination for travelers seeking lakeside retreats and views of Mount Fuji instead of crowded major cities.
Istanbul has also emerged as a destination of interest among Vietnamese travelers due to its blend of history, culture and transcontinental experiences.
According to Agoda, Turkey’s tourism promotion activities in Vietnam and a simplified e-visa process have made Istanbul more accessible to Vietnamese travelers in recent years.
