Hai Phong Port operates 5,000 HP Azimuth tugboat for the first time
Hai Phong Port Towing and Transport Joint Stock Company has recently held a ceremony to welcome the Azimuth tugboat TUGTRANCO 01 with a capacity of 5,000 horsepower (HP).
The TUGTRANCO 01 tugboat was designed and newly built according to international standards. It is equipped with the Azimuth Schottel propulsion system, capable of 360-degree maneuverability, effectively supporting the operation of large-tonnage vessels entering and leaving the Lach Huyen International Gateway Port area.
The vessel is nearly 32 meters long and powered by a 5,000 HP main engine. It is integrated with systems that ensure maritime safety, environmental pollution prevention, and search-and-rescue support in compliance with current technical regulations.
According to leaders of Hai Phong Port Towing and Transport Joint Stock Company, TUGTRANCO 01 is a technically demanding project that was implemented on schedule, opening up new development opportunities for towing and maritime support services in Hai Phong.
The company currently manages and operates 11 tugboats with a combined capacity of more than 17,000 HP. The addition of TUGTRANCO 01 helps enhance the company’s capability to serve large container ships, specialized vessels, and the growing number of international shipping routes at the Hai Phong International Gateway Port area.
At the same time, this marks the first time the company has put an Azimuth tugboat equipped with modern maneuvering technology into operation to support deep-water seaport activities.
