Investing in green space

In recent years, Hai Phong has continuously built more parks, flower gardens and public green spaces. Under the 2021–2025 period, the city’s urban area saw the implementation of dozens of projects, increasing green cover and creating more community spaces for residents.

Many expect that alongside ongoing urban development, the city will continue to build more parks, flower gardens and public green spaces, helping to build a civilized, modern city, raise residents’ quality of life, and gradually meet the criteria to become a special-class city by 2030, as set out in the first resolution of the Hai Phong Party Congress for the 2025–2030 term.

Adding urban character

Lakeside areas have been designed with open layouts to meet residents’ needs for daily activities, recreation and community connection.

Under a local revision of the Hai Phong master plan to 2040, with a vision to 2050, about 290 hectares of coastal water frontage in Do Son have been re-designated for urban, service and tourism uses. This land is seen as an important space for future coastal walks, open squares, scenic parks and large community areas.

In the southern Cam River area (Nam song Cam), the city has also increased green space and public areas to reconfigure the riverside urban landscape toward a more open, modern character.

As Hai Phong aims to become a modern, green and civilized coastal city, investment in public space is regarded as a core component of sustainable urban development.
