With the message that artificial intelligence is reshaping the logistics sector’s core competitiveness, the 2026 Logistics Technology Forum (VALOMA LogTech Forum), themed “Artificial Intelligence Shaping the Future of Logistics,” was held in Hanoi on May 9.

The event, organized by the Vietnam Association for Logistics Manpower Development (VALOMA), drew strong interest from businesses and policymakers.

In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Nguyen Thanh Chuong, chairman of VALOMA, said technology was reshaping supply chains and transforming logistics from a purely support function into a foundational service sector for the digital and green economy.

He said artificial intelligence would not replace humans, but businesses capable of applying the technology effectively would significantly outperform competitors slow to innovate.

Global data show that the application of artificial intelligence can help optimize operating costs by up to 15%, reduce inventories by 35% and improve service quality by 65%.

Associate Professor Nguyen Binh Minh, director of the Institute of Technology and Digital Economy under Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said pressure for transformation had shifted from “should do” to “must do.” He warned that without timely deployment of artificial intelligence, more than 70% of businesses could face operational disruptions from market shocks within the next five years.

From a business perspective, Nguyen Anh Dung, technology project manager at J&T Express Vietnam, said the rapid growth of millions of daily orders had pushed labor-based operations to their limits. In that context, artificial intelligence had become essential for process automation and protecting profit margins.

Experts recommended that businesses begin with smaller-scale problems and focus resources on cleaning and standardizing input data. They said this was a prerequisite for artificial intelligence to optimize transport routes and automate sorting processes, helping reduce logistics costs to 10-12% of GDP by 2035.
