Cold air to bring widespread storms to northern Vietnam
A cold air mass will continue affecting northern and north-central Vietnam bringing widespread thunderstorms, heavy rain in some areas and risks of lightning, hail and strong winds.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold air mass will push a low-pressure trough further south, causing significant weather changes across several regions. Scattered showers and thunderstorms have already been recorded across northern Vietnam.
The cold air mass is forecast to affect the northeastern region before expanding to north-central provinces and parts of the northwest. The northeast and Thanh Hoa Province are expected to turn cooler.
In the northwest, temperatures are forecast to range between 22 and 25 degrees Celsius, falling below 21 degrees in some places.
The northeast is forecast to see moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, with isolated heavy to very heavy downpours. From Thursday night, northeasterly winds are expected to strengthen. Temperatures will range between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius, dropping below 21 degrees in mountainous areas, with daytime highs of 29-32 degrees.
Provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue are expected to see sunny conditions during the day, with hot weather in some areas, followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces could experience moderate rain and localized heavy downpours. Daytime temperatures are forecast at 31-34 degrees Celsius, exceeding 35 degrees in some places.
The south-central coastal region will remain sunny. Highs are expected at 31-34 degrees Celsius, rising above 35 degrees in some locations.
The Central Highlands will see sunny weather during the day and isolated showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Temperatures are expected to peak at 30-33 degrees Celsius.
Southern Vietnam will continue experiencing localized hot weather, while scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast in the late afternoon and evening. Heavy rain is possible in parts of the Mekong Delta. Temperatures are expected to range between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius, with some areas above 35 degrees.
Weather authorities warned that thunderstorms across the country could bring lightning, hail and strong gusts.
