As of early May 4, the Bach Long Vi sea area recorded northeast winds at force 5, at times reaching force 6, with gusts up to force 7. Wave heights ranged from 1.25 to 2.0 meters.

Forecasts for May 5 indicate that Hai Phong’s coastal waters - including Bach Long Vi, Cat Hai, and coastal wards such as Do Son, Nam Do Son, Duong Kinh, Dong Hai, Hai An, Nam Trieu, along with communes including Kien Hai, Hung Thang and Chan Hung - will see northeast to easterly winds at force 2 to 3, with wave heights ranging from 0.25 to 0.75 meters.

Authorities warned that vessels, aquaculture areas and offshore operations, as well as coastal infrastructure such as sea dykes, embankments and ports, face a high risk of impact from strong winds and high waves.

On land, a 5 a.m., Hai Phong Meteorological Station, based on weather radar imagery, showed convective cloud formations developing over Hung Yen and moving toward Hai Phong.

Within the next three hours, these clouds are expected to bring thunderstorms to western parts of the city before spreading to other areas.

During thunderstorms, residents are advised to remain alert to possible whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong gusts, which may cause damage to trees, housing and transport infrastructure, as well as localized flooding in low-lying urban areas.
